Just bought a custom 99 gixxer and dude draged it. First thing I wanna do is unlower this bad boy. I took off the getto front strap. But the rear has "dog bones". Looking at it, it looks as if I just compress the shock, and unbolt. Any steps/tips I should be aware of? graemlins/thumbup.gif

When you go to raise the bike back up, have a buddy help you cause when you take the bolt out of the dog bones to raise it up the bike will sink down on you. It's not diffcult just easier with help.

first, you must not dragrace. that "ghetto strap" has saved my ass more than once and its cheaper than cutting your forks. but as far as putting back the stock bones, its easy. you dont have to compress anything. once you pull the bolts out the back will drop so have someone to help. then just realign the holes with the new bones and tighten. thats all there is to it. i raise and lower mine depending on wether im dragracin or streetridin all the time.

Now when U talk of "stock dog bones" are these "bones that are longer than the current ones I have on my bike? And if so does anyone know where I might be able to find some? images/icons/confused.gif

Longer = lower... You need shorter dog bones...
Go make a post in the wanted forum and look in the for sale... Someone might have them.

I have the dog bones you seek..........
stock length..... p.m. me........
I know this is an old topic, but what is the advantage of raising a bike when draggin' it?? I would have thought the ass end would want to be lower for quicker take off??
