Can someone tell me if it's possible to run a new fuel indicator light, wiring from the wiring harness (the wires) to the gauges? If so, what wire is the one that I would use? Or how do I run a gas gauge? That's probably WAY too much trouble.

I need to know how much fuel I have. The pelvic shake is too inaccurate!

Just my $.02.

I use the first trip odometer for my gas estimate. I reset it at every fill up. I know at about 150-165 miles I will get the flashing light. At about 175-180 it will be a solid light.

Easier then opening the can and shaking. Tapping the side of the gas tank is easy to figure out how much gas is left.

Good idea! If I can't get a light working, I'll do the same.

I wish I could get that much out of a tank of gas... Even if I am good I only get about 130 miles... But now that I have a really lean map on my PCII I should be able to get more miles... lol

Weird thing is I am not gentle on the bike. Even in slow traffic I ride around 6k rpms. This is so that when the cooling fan kicks in it doesn't kill the battery.

More importantly, I ride with one guy on a Cbr1000. The thing pulls like a freight train. Even at high rpm's I need to kick it down twice to keep at the same level of acceleration.

Well, I guess no one has any ideas. I really figured that FREAK would have an answer, from all his posts I've seen on here!

The wiring info would be really helpful.

Sorry kinda got off topic. Your bike should have a low fuel light on it... When you turn your bike on, In the top right hand corner of your gagues, there should be a yellow light there... Is there not one.

There SHOULD be one. Unfortunately, the bike is a rebuilt wreck, and the top 2 lights on the gauges got broken and not fixed images/icons/rolleyes.gif (blinker indicator, and low fuel indicator). I don't wanna spend $200 on a set of used gauges. The circuit board where the bulbs would connect is cracked images/icons/frown.gif and I would really like to be able to just throw a LED in the holes to make it easy.

Well if you know or can find out, if the 00 600 cluster fits... I will sell you one... There are a few sratchs on the face but everything works... I think it might need a few bulbs too... we can work out a price if you want it...

I've posted the question in the General Discussion forum. We'll see if anyone knows.

I'll see if I can borrow a digital camera to take pics of the harness that plugs into my gauges and send them to you, to see if it's a match. Probably be a couple of days, though.

ok i dont think it will work... If I remember correct, the 600 speedo only runs up to like 175 or 180. This would meen that if it did work, you would have a speedo that is off... If you dont care, we can try it... images/icons/smile.gif

If I'mma put a messed up speedo on, it'd better be AWFULLY cheap. I'd really like to figure out the wiring so that I can keep the original ODO on it, despite the 19k miles.

Let's check the plugs. I'll get a pic tomorrow.

You can add a low fuel light to your cluster. I'm scanning my cluster right now I'll post pics later tonight.

Tach reads up to 16k w/a 13.5 redline.
Speedo reads 190 at the last mark. I touched 170 the first day, then got to a gas station, and had 15lbs. of pressure per tire! images/icons/shocked.gif

Spike, what's the wire(s) needed?

The arrows are points were you could get the low fuel signal from. I'm not sure if the signal is 12v or Gnd, but a check with a test light would let you know. I imagine that the person that rebuilt your bike didn't remove the sending unit from the tank or did he remove the wires from the harness. I don't have a wiring diagram for these bike's but if someone could e-mail me a hi-res one I would be very happy to put it up on my new site. That's goes from any wiring diagram, e-mail it to me and I'll put it up.

Where's the pic? Try to e-mail it to me. I'll send you a copy of the wiring diagram, but it's not too good.
