Hi guys,

I wanted to just start a comparo between the two bikes and get peoples opinions on them. Which they liked more and why. The whole strength and weakness thing.

To start it off Ill say that I grew up racing motocross then got hurt to many times and decided to move to sportbikes. I've been riding sportbikes for about 4 1/2 years now and done the canyon's and some track days, im a intermediate.

Saying that I've had a chance to ride both bikes. My personal opinion is I love the 09 750. I think the bike preforms just perfect. As a 750 goes I wish it had more bottom end and low mid-range (3000-6000rpm). The balance of the bike is great the brakes grab well and is very agile, very close to the gsxr 600 i owned for 4 yrs. Its not as beefy as the CBR1000rr i had but has plenty of punch, well more than a 600, but it handles so much better than the honda. :punk

Now the 2011 is a awesome bike as well it does everything the 09 does but there are some drawbacks in my opinion right now. First I know everyone is going to say factory Brembo's, but you know what there not the good Brembo's, the tokico brakes are just as good :dunno. I feel this is just the brand name game. Second the claimed dropped weight of 20lbs was exaggerated, I have a a scale to put bikes on and the difference was only 9 8/10lbs (10lbs). So there goes the 2 biggest claimed improvements. Now the engine feels just as strong as previous models and slightly more responsive and the chassis feels very agile as well. The preformance is a hair above a 2009 but not by much and most riders wont be able to tell.

The 2 biggest points to me on why I vote for the 09 is first the 2011 is a ugly bike i feel. The navy blue frame and a fairing that would make me wanna ride it as a naked bike just makes me think of birth control for bike designers. The bike just looks unfinished especially when compared to 2011 600. second is the nearly $1000 up in sticker price. Bottom line I bought the 09 brand new when i could have gotten a 2011 at cost.

i owed a 2009 gsx-r 750 and i traded it in for a 2011. They offered me to much money to trade it in and the 0% Apr was a def selling point. I love the 2011 but i still miss the 2009 as it was my first bike. The bike def feels lighter but i also lost 30 lbs so that obviously helps.

i really think your wrong. obviously you feel what you feel. But from what i have read magazines and many online forums. Everyone feels the upgrades in the brakes from 2009 vs 2011. The weight savings def is significant, 1 Lb is in the wheels which is said to be almost ten pounds of weight savings when the bike is moving. I love the 2009 750 but i wouldn't go ahead and say the 2009 is a better bike

I have the 2009, and a friend just got the 2011. I've ridden both.

The 2011 brakes are not better... yet. The problem is the master cylinder. My friend is installing a Brembo 19X18 replacement and steel lines (once they're available). I did the same to mine earlier, making the bike a one finger stopper.

Power is similar on both bikes, weight savings is in the fairing and some other parts. Not a major difference.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, I said I liked the 09 more not that it was a better bike. I've ridden both bikes and the performance is not much different to a average rider.

Let me know how it turns out. How do u like the upgrade on your 09? Im thinking of doing calibers, lines, and master later on.

There is more to the 2011 than just weight drop. The rear linkage went back to what Suzuki did in the past on the 1000, the motor is tilted for more swing arm, engine internals have changed ( more on the 600 than 750). The bike is lighter and the computer has been changed.

Yes some say it is ugly but based on performance and changes made from racing feedback the 2011 is a more advanced bike. Plus it is doing well in racing.

Would I sell my 08 750 for a 2012 no, but if something happened to it I would buy the 2011 over the previous gen.

To Suzuki does a great job of advancing the product but most are lacking the skill to use the bikes full potential.

Spiegler has brake lines out

I have spiegler superbike lines and carbone lorrainne pads and its scary. Much better feel, crazy initial bite when brakes applied. I give it a two thumbs up

I conquer. The 2011 is a more advanced bike. I just feel the 2 biggest advertised improvements don't really make it that much better for the average rider. If they put on the good brembos and a better exhaust and the bike was actually 20lbs lighter it would be great. Oh how about some ohlins also I might be wishing here LOL:hammer

I replaced the master cylinder with a brembo 19x18 and run spieglar lines and that thing brakes like a champ. Never get brake fade and its always consistant.
