: Any carb experts in the crowd?

My son decided to get interested in helping with my old Gixxer rebuild. So we took the carbs off the old 92 and tore them down over the last couple of days. The crazy thing is the two right side carbs were filled with a green slime while the left two were filled with what was recognizable as old gas. No clue on the green slime other than it's definitely also old gas. Seems strange that the two right side ones were green while the other two were normal. Anyway, after finding the needles seized in their seats I decided a full rebuild was in the cards. My question to the experts is; has anyone been able to find replacements cup seals for the cross over tubes on the stock Mikuni carbs? I'd just like some input before I start trying to research the part numbers. As far as I know they aren't part of the rebuild kit.....sean

Yeah, sorry. That's a factory pro jet kit or super-sport tuning kit. No rebuild kit there. I have access to the same catalogs the dealerships use and can order whatever I need. I've done some research already and found that the kits I can order do not state that the seal I asked about is included. It may be, but before I drop $130 on rebuild kits for each carb, I want to be sure that the seal is included. That's $130 total for 4 rebuild kits. Looks like I may already need to buy new emulsion tubes. All the other stuff seems to be in good shape other than the seals already mentioned which are cracked, the vacuum hoses that run from the float bowls to the top of the carbs and a few other rubber parts that in the same dry rotted shape.......sean

Just to be clear, by "cup seals for the cross over tubes on the stock Mikuni carbs" do you mean the seals for the T connections that the fuel hoses hook onto?

Those T pieces have seals that you can order from a Suzuki dealer. They cost about $5 for each seal - not cheap but if they are worn you will have fuel leaking where the T piece connects to the carbs

Yes, those are the seals I mean. They're not really 'O' rings but more like cup seals. I'll try Bike Bandit for those. Our local Suzuki dealer is out of business.

Sudco perhaps? If they are available on the parts fische I'd just order them from Suzuki, it would be much easier. Even Sudco will want some sort of part number anyway.

the green slime is old gas and usually the reason for this is when the bike is on the kick stand the rite side gets emptied first when someone shuts off the fuel and lets it run till it dies thinkin they have "emptied" all the bowls! possible for winter storage and such!

The two that were all clogged up were on the right! The two on the left side were fine though full of was recognizable as old gas. Never seen it turn green before. Did a bunch of research....Suzuki may be the only place to get the seals. Sucks as there is no local dealer here anymore......sean
