i'm helpin' my bud fix his (crashed) '03 SV 650s. the fork tubes are bent, he's contemplating switching to a gixxer front end as long as we're taking it down. right now, all we need is tubes (the clamps and everthingelse look fine). what will be involved if we go with the gix front end? can't use the same clamps, can we? what about where the brake caliper mounts up? is everything cool, there?

also - rather than replace the uppper fairing right now, he's prolly just gonna go naked. is there a bracket i'd use instead of the fairing stay that'll hold a headlight and his speedo?

other than that, it's just a radiator and a front fender http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

thanx

The Gixxer front end conversion is everything. Froks, triples, clipons, wheel, fender, brakes...etc. If you're just going naked, get the brakets from a naked and you're all set

you do not need a new wheel, the SV wheel will work fine. you will have to use GSXR rotors on the SV wheel though. gsxr rotors from 96-03 are all the same from 600-1000, also the TLS and TLR, Hayabusa as well. the bolt pattern is the same for SV and gsxr wheels which allows for an easy swap. you will need SV steering stem bearing, which will slide onto the gsxr stem. you will need gsxr calipers any of them from 01-03 gsxr bikes will work including 600-1000.

WOW http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

so it's forks, triples, rotor, calipers, and clip ons? is the gixxer front end superior enuff to warrant all that? unless there's a huge difference (that i don't know about), we'll just stick with replacing the (SV) tubes http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

as for the bracket - where's the best place to score one (other than Ebay)? that'll mount up where the fairing stay used to?

thanx.

Not really superior if you rebuild your stock forks with springs, emulators and oil. If you want new brackets, try Ron Ayers, or you can post a wanted on the Svrider site.
