hey guys in new to this forum but i just have a couple questions for the racers out there. im 19 years old and have been racing motocross my whole life and i am extremely interested in starting to race sportbikes but after 7 diagnosed concussions 3 broken wrists 2 broken ankles 9 broken ribs and 2 punctured lungs my question for you guys is what do you feel the differences in injuries danger and riskfactor between the two sports are?

also after landing on my head 10feet past the landing of an 80ft triple giving me a concussion 2 broken wrists 5 broken ribs and a punctured lung the doctor told me that if i didnt have my leatt neck brace on i would be dead or paralyzed my second question is if there is any new technology out there in the sportbike world similar to the leat brace or if any of you riders acctually wear a leatt brace? i know the arai corsair-v has a neckroll on it but not sure how effective it acctually is.

any input would be appreciated besides telling me not to keep pursuing my racing because every injury has only made me a better stronger rider

it is difficult to say really. i know people who have had tons of crashes, and have never had a serious injury, and then i know people who have died or gotten seriously fucked up during their first crash.

there are way too many variables to consider when it comes to road racing crashes and injuries.

dianese has come out with the d-air airbag suit, and some helmets do have a neckroll like you said, but i am not away of any neck braces since you really stretch your neck quite a bit looking through the turns, and i'm not sure how a neck brace wouldn't hinder that movement.

As for the neck brace thing, maybe this (http://forums.13x.com/showthread.php?t=268067) thread can set you in the right direction.
