Hey guys... I recently bought a computer off of a buddy of mine for cheap. Iwant to set it up for my neice, but he was a big porno-holic and his address bars for MSN, IE, etc have porn sites on them. When I go to like yahoo, or alta-vista or anything, even e-bay, and start typing, it brings up porno search keywords. How do I get rid of these as I don't think my sister in law will think too highly of me giving her dayghter a computer with porno keywords on it. Thanks for the help.

LOL.....you should at first clean up all the cookies and temp internet files. As for the Search bars you can just right click on the bar once and it should show all of the previous searched for items. Then all you have to do highlight it with the mouse and press the delete key. Better yet why don't you reformat and start fresh http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

could do that, but then I need to back up a bunch of programs, cause I dont have the hard copies of them.
If your using IE 6, go to TOOLS -> INTERNET OPTIONS.... and then under the GENERAL tab, click on DELETE COOKIES, DELETE FILES (click on the box in the little window that pops up), and also click on CLEAR HISTORY.
If you use the Google toolbar you can click on OPTIONS, then the MORE tab and uncheck 'save the search history across browser sessions'. You can recheck this after a reboot and the previously stored data should be gone. Other toolbars should have options similar to this one.
Hope this helps

Here you go, download one of these programs and they will get rid of everything that could come up and some even overwrite things to protect them from being restored.

I would run these programs in addition to cleaning the temp, history and cookies. They will get almost anything: CWShredder, Adaware and Spybot. They are all free.
