: K11K Stalls on quick rev

Recently been having problems with bike stalling when it was given a quick rev in neutral as well as in gear (with clutch pulled) both when stationary and in motion. Happens all the time. Bike is usually well warmed up because it happens even after riding for over 30 minutes.

The rev doesn't have to be huge; simply revving from idle (1200rpm) to anything above about 4000-5000rpm is enough to stall the engine. Never had this problem before even with my TRE-002 installed.

Anyway, took it in to the dealership a few days ago and the following was done;
- cleaned spark plugs
- adjust TPS
- throttle bodies sync
- cleaned air filter
- Removed T.R.E
- Idle is set to about 1250rpms now.

With the above work done, it is a little better now, but still stalls occasionally if that quick rev goes over about 5000rpms. I was told that on these bikes, they can't respond fast enough to such revs when the tach drops that fast, hence it stalls; Issue is, i never had this problem before.

Any ideas ? Thoughts ? comments ? Thanks in advance :scratch

Sounds like the TPS sticking. Adjustment wont cure it. You need to take it off and soak it in some WD40 (low viscosity oil) overnight. That should free it up. If not replace it. Common fault with this model.

Good to know. Thanks for the tip.

Took a look at the TPS this morning, and looks like there is no way to decouple the sensor itself from the three wires that go into it. With that said, are you saying that i should just dip the whole thing (after taking it off the bike) into WD40 including the wires at the tail end of the sensor ?

If you follow the wires they should go to a plug which you can unplug to remove the sensor. Once it's off you dip the end with the sensor on it, wires and all into a pot of WD40 (i just sprayed a load into a spare aerosol lid I had until it filled up) and leave it overnight to soak in.

To test if the TPS is sticking:
Once the sensor is off the bike, if you look into the hole on the sensor you will see 2 lugs - take a flat blade screwdriver, put it in the hole and turn against the lugs so it rotates all the way round. Then pull the screwdriver out - if the TPS is not sticking it should spring straight back to it's starting point. If it doesnt spring straight back or it returns slowly then that's your problem. Once it's been soaked in oil it will free up and spring back as it should. If soaking in oil doesn't help then it will have to be replaced.

Right on point. It springs back very slowly. Soaked in WD40 through the night. Hopefully that fixes it. Just checked on pricing for a new one and it runs at about $170.00 new.

Problem fixed. Thanks man. You were very helpful.
This should buy me some time to be able to get a new one as i am sure the problem will return, just not sure how long.
Now that i know what was wrong, i need to return the TRE-002 back, except i am not sure which of the white coupler's its supposed to plug into.

Can anyone maybe confirm the colours of the wires for the GPS? I think the TRE plugs in there !

Re-installed my TRE. Found the GPS. One of the wires is pink.

Glad you got it sorted. I have had to do this to my TPS about 3 times now, seems to last about 6 months or so. Should get a new one really, but like you say they are way expensive. BTW, I think the Busa uses the same TPS as well as some other Suzuki's...

Can anyone post pics of the tps I called the closest motorcycle service shop and they told me that my bike 2001 gsxr1000 has 2 tps sensors and they would need 75$ to diagnose which one it was then i told them that it was a quick rev/stall out after that and they said my fpr is going out that they just did one about 3 weeks ago and whatnot and want me to buy a new fuel pump assembly, would be great if i can get some info on if there are 2 or 1 tps and where they are located(maybe a pic? hopefully lol) thanks guys and safe holidays and whatnot(here in florida it rained most of the day but this morning me and a friend(my gsxr1000 and him on his stretched 08 busa had a great ride)

the other TPS they are talking about is the STPS, which is number 9 in the pic. Not related to your problem I wouldn't have thought. Sounds like your bike shop is talking a lot of crap!!!

This thread solved something that has bothered me for over 6 months now. 30 minutes work (not including the overnight immersion :) ) and it is like new. Shame I changed my riding style to compensate for this problem.

Strange also that it happened on a bike with less than 7k miles. Sorted now anyway. Cheers guys.

good info breakz. I never took one off, always thought they were a solid coupling.
