I don't know what happened. Everytime I try to preview a song or try to burn a CD I get the "An error has occured and has to shut down"
I have no clue how to fix it. It always worked fine. It's the Roxio Easy CD creator program on my hard drive. Any idea what I should do to fix it. THanks

What operating system are you using? Any time I get those types of errors, I start the blame at anything new that might have been installed. They can mess with settings in the registry. Failing that, I check the harddisk for errors, defrag it, run spyware software and virus checks and then reboot. If it still doesn't clear it up, you could try uninstalling and reinstalling the program...
You weren't inside your box for any reason? Knocked a wire off the CD burner? http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

I have Windows XP. The CD burner is internal and the program came installed in the PC when I bought it. I use Adware and I always delete the items that come up corrupt or whatever you call it. I tried restoring my comp. but haven't tried to defrag it yet. I might of screwed up something with that Adware program. other than that nothing new has been installed. I wish I could uninstall it and reinstall it but b/c it came with the comp I don't think I have a cd to reinstall it. any suggestions

Hmmm. XP. Hopefully it wasn't an XP update issue. I'm a 98SE guy, so I can't offer any tips on the operating system end of it. Somebody else hopefully can jump in for that. Try defragging the harddisk. If you have a Norton Utilities program (Symantec), I'd suggest they have an operating system and harddisk utility that hunts down troubles and tries to fix them.
After the defrag, and no luck, you could try to go to Roxio's site and see if there's a way to get an update to the program. Or, try a different program like Nero. If you have the same trouble with another program, your errors are deeper than the burning software. I use Easy CD Creator, and the Plextor software that came with my CD burner.
You have to be careful with those spyware programs. I used to have the old version of Spybot, where all the safety's were turned off. It messed up one of the computers at work, well, the internet surfing capabilities of it, anyways. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif It'd done a registry hack for the cookies to make them safe from prying eyes, among other things. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif I've learned to live with it, while surfing at work.

Thanks Robben. I'll try to figure it out. But I can only do it for a little while at a time b/c I have no patience and after about 20 minutes I'm ready to throw the PC out the window. Thanks again

when did you first notice this happening? try using system restore to go back to a restore point that was created just before that date. you won't lose data files when you do this, but any software you installed since then will no longer be there. which might be a good thing, if something you installed is conflicting with easy cd creator.

Thanks Jeff. I already did that and it didn't help any.
