: 04 600 Oil Leak

I have about 150 miles on my new 600 and just noticed that it is leaking oil.

The oil drops are accumulating on the bottom of the oil pan and will leave about a quarter size drop on the ground if the bike is parked for more than an hour.

the drain plug and all oil pan bolts are tight.

It looks like the oil is seeping out where the oil pan meets the bottom of the motor. It looks wet on that seam just above the oil filter and to the right (throttle/brake) side of the bike.

Has anybody else noticed this?

Take it back to the dealer ASAP....you really DON'T want to have to deal with Suzuki customer service if your motor shits itself.

Took it to the dealer... looks like oil is leaking out of one of the crankcase seals. If you look at the side of the motor, its the seal above the oil pan (not the oil pan seal itself).

the mechanic said the whole bottom of the motor has to come apart... even worse, if the surface of the engine case itself is machined wrong, it may have to be replaced.

not cool.

Just a first year reject, it's to be expected.

It just sucks when you are the one with the reject. They will have a sheet that they fill out (and are told not to tell you that, so don't bother asking) and send to Suzuki so they can take th info and avoid it in the future
