I have a 2001 1000 I want to get a newer motor. I already know the 02 is the same and will slide in no problems. I was wondering if an 03 or 04 would go in. If not, any Ideas on how to freshen up current motor

Man just go through your the 01-02 are great motors killer mid-range just pm me smittybizzle@gmail.com and I can get you right . Just need some info on the motor .

03-04 mounts the same. Electrics are different.

Same. They changed on the K5.
