: front brake suggestions
rcravincase 11-15-2010, 06:32 PM i tried doing a search the last couple hours and kept comming up with some error code. anyways, what do you guys recomend for front brake rotors and pads? i have trust in ebc brakes but the only brake parts ive replaced on my bike are the rear pads, and my old bike i did a front rotor, pads, and caliper with salvage yard parts. my front rotors have a bit of warpage to them and now are starting to blue. i ride almost always close to the speed limit and mostly commuting with ripping on it the occasional weekend
TT750 11-15-2010, 06:47 PM all i run is ebc hh pads
SPL170db 11-15-2010, 06:51 PM Vesrah RJL will fantastic for a streetbike.
jwheels 11-16-2010, 12:35 AM +1 for EBC HH

rcravincase 11-18-2010, 07:57 PM alright, how about rotors? i took a look at mine, and theres some blueing going on now. lets just say the last ride i went for i was carrying some excessive speed
Chocolate_Rain 11-18-2010, 08:53 PM The three I am looking at. Plus +1 for the Vesrah RJL

jwheels 11-20-2010, 02:17 AM I run the standard rotors on my track bike, never had a problem.. But Galfer wave rotors sure are pretty:punk
straightsix 11-20-2010, 02:36 AM My friend has the Braking rotor on his CBR 954 and says the performance is good. I'm going to get those as well.
Best pads are EBC HH sintered.
Adsuzukiboy34 11-20-2010, 07:48 AM I use EBC HH pads & Galfer rotors.
I'll be upgrading to radial m/c shortly.
I'm assuming that you hane braided lines? If not, install them also.
Cheers, Ad
mortenmorfar 11-20-2010, 07:59 AM I bought the EBC wave rotors and HH pads last year, a bit easier to stop compared to the stock if you ask me, but my fork legs were bent when I put them on, so now the rotors are bend too, but I will be replacing them with the same rotors.
Reading revious threads on this subject i've always understood that the oem discs were sufficient for the job.........Discs would be the last thing on the brakes to upgrade.
If you did want to upgrade the disc, you would have to go for iron ones, for any improvement in braking performance (which ones....ain't got a bloody clue)......Other than that, i always presumed that wavy discs were just for off road bikes.
Can someone please correct me if i'm wrong :cheers
mortenmorfar 11-20-2010, 08:31 AM The wave pattern should help remove gas buildup, that's what I have read, and it removes a bit of weight too.
YZ Faybo 11-20-2010, 08:42 AM I have a road and race SRAD, original disks are more than up for the job, my mate races a super stock k7 thou on original disks with no performance issues. On my race bike I do run PFM Iron disks/rotors just because they realy do make a huge difference but are not cheap by any means.
Tried the Galfer/Braking disks with mixed results dont belive all the hype yes there ok but the do hammer pads with the large slots and a big negative for us was the weight, they are much thicker to compensate for the large slots to stop warpage which in turn adds to your gyroscopic effect of the front wheel. How many WSB bikes do you see with "wavey" disks, hmm none. Good sales pitch though.
All depends on your wallet and what you realy want out of them, but for f---ks sake dont get those shyte Chinese disks.
I use EBC HH pads & Galfer rotors.

GSXR-Freak 11-20-2010, 10:39 AM My OE rotors have almost 60K miles on them now. Still stop well... Problem I have now is that the buttons are wearing the carrier out and they 'float' a little more then they should. Rotors are soon on the list.. But the OE units have taking a hard life at the track and canyons, in air temps of up 115*f and hard breaking...
Anyhow. OE works well.. :)

rcravincase 11-22-2010, 07:37 PM thanks guys. i was pricing them out, denniskirk carries the aftermarket around $250 a rotor, and ron ayers has the oem for about $300 each. any place else i could be looking?
New or 2nd hand?
Get your red R and the Sradiator will oblidge.........If you buy from him, the good thing is that you KNOW you won't get any suspect discs...
paul@ronayers.com 11-23-2010, 01:58 PM We will have a 10% off sale starting tomorrow night through the weekend if you wanted to go with OEM.
