Hey guys, im from australia and im trading in my jap import cbr250 to upgrade. I've been driving dealers crazy by test riding heaps of bikes like there's no tomorrow! (mostly 2004 600's). My favourite was the gsxr600 and i was sold, until a friend suggested to give the gixxer 1000 a go.
The smoothness, stability, low to mid-range torque and power of the 1000 was everything i had been looking for and much more (maybe too much) but for me it wasnt as nimble as the 600.
I ejoyed the nimbleness of the 600 but im not keen on constantly havin to rev out the engine and always changing gears (similar riding style to my 250). Dealers tell me the 750 is a happy medium between the two but they're not yet available here for test rides.

Basically, im going to be going on long trips (3-4 days of riding: twisties, bends and highway) only about twice a year, i hardly ever will have a pillion and most of my riding is local daily thrashings... http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Is there that much significant difference between the 600 and 750 in power, stability, torque, steering dampener. etc?

And same with the 750 vs 1000?

Im worried that i will go on a long ride and regret my purchase of getting a 750 instead of a 1000 from a comfort point of view.

can someone please help me? thank you

If your only going to go for long rides twice a year I would say get the 750. Not that much difference in size or comfort if at all. Your not going to be able to wring the neck of a 1000 on the streets anyway. I would only choose the 1000 if your going to be primarly on highways were you would use the extra torque.

Thanks for the suggestion. So far im definitely heading towards a 750 because of its versatility. Although i'm still remaining open for all suggestions and advise.

Wait...the new 750 weighs the same as last years 600 (359 lbs) and has 125bhp!? That's just 5 bhp less than the '03 Yamaha R1

Why are we having this discussion?

The '04 750 is insane...then again I rode it in to work this morning. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

You'd be kicking yourself if you bought an '04 GSX-R1000. If you want a liter bike, buy the ZX-10R for sure.

I just got my 750 an let me just say HOLY SHIT!!!!! The new 750 is a bad ass bike. It has unbelivable power and is as nimble as the 600. I have many friends with 1000's and I just think for the street it is overkill. The 750 fifty is the ultimate street bike. I don't think you will have any regrets with your choice of the 750.

I would get the 750. The 1k is going to change again soon and you wont have the latest bike out, and it will hurt the value of you bike big time. The 750 is the perfect mix, I would not get the 6 how could you if you love the power of the 1k? The 750 sounds like the bike for you.

My local dealer said the 750 will be available for test rides next week. im hoping that the feeling on the throttle is closer to the 1k than the 600. What are the changes being made to the 1000 next year?
