: Be nice rule
zameil 06-05-2004, 09:17 PM This is very fucking simple.
If you see a pic of a members wife, Girlfriend or SO and you don't find her appealing.
DON'T post stupid fucking remarks about their looks or your distaste for the pics etc.
I and the other mods are sick to death of having to go through wife girlfriend posts editing remarks from dickheads who think it's funny to post "Butterface" or similar shit as comments.
These guys and these girls have taken a huge step to upload their pics for the enjoyment of others and they don't need stupid comments from idiots.
You get one warning if you do it again you will be banned very simple.
Now fucking play nice or not at all.
Antagonist·5000 06-05-2004, 09:27 PM Oh, what a wonderland. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
zameil 06-05-2004, 09:48 PM Yeah, Aint democracy and feeedom of speech a wonderful thing?
It's a damn shame I had to post that but it's the only way to get through to some people.
imported_Ryan 06-05-2004, 09:53 PM Not a bad idea Zam
I know I dont post pics anymore as there is always someone that makes an asshole comment about something i.e. look at the toe jamb under their nails, colour of her skin, height or a blemish on a body part.
Damn guys post a pic of your perfect partner or yourself and see the replies you get.
Yes I know everyone has your opinion but dont rip these people to shreds, check the pics out if its not for you then move along.
99GSXR750PA 06-05-2004, 10:19 PM i stand by this rule... if you dont have anything nice to say say nothing at all
768rider 06-05-2004, 11:20 PM http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/banana.gif http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/applause.gif http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/applause.gif http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/applause.gif http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/applause.gif
I very much agree with this rule
Dragoonchild 06-06-2004, 12:06 AM Same here. I get sick of reading crap like that. Its hard enough to talk my wife lady into getting some pics to post up somewhere.... That stuff just makes them think less of themselves then you get to hear about what they "think" their flaws are all week! http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif
Will186 06-06-2004, 03:37 AM while I am all about treating others with respect, we are all adults here (mostly), and we are always going to have a few people that are a little more outspoken than others. However, threatening to ban them for speaking their mind or otherwise saying how they feel is rediculous. If I put up pics of my girlfriend, I wouldn't be pissed about negative comments. I am not talking about the "she is a fucking skank," or "nasty as hell" comments. Those are a litle too far. However, telling someone that if they can't say something positive to not say anything at all would make this forum board dead. Go into some other forums and you see non-stop bashing and arguing. Are these rules going to apply in all of the other forums as well? Why are we just being selective about the pics of women? If we are going to be forum Nazi's, we might as well police the entire board. Some times the discussions get pretty heated, and it can get nasty. I mean, going into another members post and changing their quote, or something to the effect of "I am gay and like men" just violates the same rule that you are trying to implement: "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all." If you can't handle negative comments about your girl, don't post up pictures. If a member takes what another member says about thier girlfriend to heart, then that is not a problem for the members or moderators. He should feel secure enough that it doesn't matter two shits what someone else says.
The Deer Hunter 06-06-2004, 07:11 AM I agree also.
SuicideGirl 06-06-2004, 09:30 AM Ditto...Its really lame. We should be thanking them for sharing.
misanthropist 06-06-2004, 11:15 AM Sharing sucks. Everyone should be beaten. I agree with the rule. That is all.
GSX-RDreamN 06-06-2004, 12:18 PM I agree, its one thing for it too be some crusty chick you saw at some event but when its someones wife or girlfriend its a different story.
Also, (as for free speech) this website is someoness business. Just as if you were to walk into a shop anywhere else you wouldn't walk in and call one of the other customers wives a butterface outloud so everyone can hear you. So shoew the same respect, or at least the same tact.
Upside 06-06-2004, 01:40 PM Sometimes you drink to much beer and say stupid things . i posted the "butterface" comment , i can be a man and say sorry . And i am , but i dont like when people thretin me and use vulger language in posts, so ill keep my comments to myself if you keep your laguage undertone. so next time you have to write someone about what they wrote in a post dont attak them with fightin words address them like a gentalman, not a 6th grade bully. thanks
zameil 06-06-2004, 06:33 PM Theres no bullying and you weren't the first person to make a lame/ drunken comment. You obviously weren't that drunk cause your spelling and grammar were pretty spot on and you remember saying it.
At least you are mature enough to say you understand the reasons behind my pm and this rule.
As I said you weren't the first and no doubt you won't be the last.
As for the bully boy tactics Think about this, You finally convince your othe half to allow pic taken then some guy using "I'm drunk" as an excuse to post some crap lame statement. Then the moderators who incidentally have had about 20pm's from various people complaining about stupid people posting "Drunken" stements and then you have the same scenario which gets repeated about once a month on this board.
One tends ot sick of it rather quickly and short on temper you try to be nice and send a PM only to get laughed at so you take a stand and treat everyone the same so don't think you are the only one feeling bullied.
In that regard those are the rules, live by them.
PS I'm all for freedom of speach I want the HP forum back but we are governed by rules and as the enforcer of those rules I have to do whats right for the forum If that means I got to be an asshole so be it.
Besides I like my mod job http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
ryu750 06-07-2004, 01:34 AM I have never said anything negative about anybodys wife or girlfriend.. BUT if you have the balls to post it.. and then you should have the guts to take the comments... I dont agree with this!

I finally agree with you Dave http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/flipa.gif. I think that if you can post it, then you should be able to take the good comments with the bad. Just as long as the comments don't go overboard. If you think that she is fat, then why not just say that "she is a little on the heavy side; instead of saying "SHE IS A FAT COW.
Go to General bike talk and see how badly everyone is bashing everyone else.
The I got a ticket posts seem to generate the most asshole remarks. Why don't we start monitoring and banning those who make rude comments as well. Before long we will have everyone banned and the site would be shut down.
punkadilly 06-07-2004, 02:29 AM Hmmmm. . . where do I stand on this. . .
I appreciate where this rules stems from. . .there are some dicks out there that say some very harsh shit. I agree they should get reprimanded. However, I think someone respectfully stating their opinion is fine.
I've been called a few names myself before, including butterface. It's going to happen. I agreed to have my pics posted for all to view & critic so I know I have to take the good with the bad. . . I'm fine with how I look & if others aren't. . .no biggy-as long as they're respectful stating such.
I prefer truthful opinions. . . even if it stings http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

You are missing the point entirely. The point is that I COULD call somebody a butterface. I wouldn't do it in a store and I won't do it on here, but it still pisses me off that you tell me and everybody else that we COULDN'T say it.
You guys have no problem ripping on someone's bike or car and it is really no different. If you post something on an open forum, whether it is an opinion, belief, or a picture you better have the damn common sense to realise that people can respond HOWEVER they want. I don't see you saying "be nice to religious beliefs" or "be nice to other ethnicities." One of you got a burr up your ass because you got personally offended by something. WELCOME TO LIFE. If you can let something that somebody types on a message board on the internet get to you that bad, you have some serious problems. You say be nice. I say if you can't take the comments, DON'T FUCKING POST THE PICTURES.
POLOGXR750 06-07-2004, 07:53 AM agree...
zameil 06-07-2004, 09:00 AM Cars and bikes don't have feelings. If you go out and speed and get caught and you post it here then catch the flames. I'm not saying any and all negative comments will get you banned just really stupid ones.
Geezus you yanks need people to spell it out completely all the time.
Try this,
use common sense when making a post or a comment.
ESPECIALLY ones involving someone you have feelings for or involve emotions.
If you want to keep seeing members wives make nicer comments and leave the shit out of it.

L_E_S_RYDER 06-08-2004, 12:25 AM Im sorry but I have to disagree with this stupid rule. I'll follow it out of respect but the truth is freedom of speech also includes being able to tell someone when his wife, sister, cousin girlfriend or other looks like a pig. Lets face it chances are that they already know she looks like a hog and just wants us to see it to. If they are uploading the picture for me to see then I am guessing they also want my feedback. If they dont all they have to do is stipulate that they dont want any remarks (bad or good). The funny thing is that all of sudden we have been thrusted into the stone ages where our words are not allowed because they may hurt someones feelings. I guess it is all right to stop someone from speaking his opinion as long as your name has administrator next to it. Porn I understand but limiting our freedom to say hey your wife looks like she was beat by a mule is over the top.
punkadilly 06-08-2004, 04:23 AM I think too many people use 'freedom of speach' as an excuse for lacking manners.

that was pretty offensive to me. I have feelings you know. Remember your golden rule: "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all." Or are we playing another favorite golden rule: "Do as i say, not as I do?"
Upside 06-08-2004, 02:15 PM Never said i was drunk . I didnt say that i drank to much to justify what i said. I was useing it as an ICEBRAKER , I dont give excuses , just wanted to say sorry to the guy and his girl. Dont judge my charicter by what i posted. Sorry people we cant liver under the comfort of our mothers wings forever , We live in the real world w/ differnt people , nice and mean. if you post something like a pic of your new mods on your bike and people say its ugly you probly wont cry about it. so post your pics and be prepaird for criticism because it will happen .
Moto_Joe 06-08-2004, 02:22 PM Damn people I think common sense is all that is needed....
If a guy posts a thread saying "hey look at my wife, tell me what you think" or something to that effect I think he is asking for opnions and should take negative with the positive, as long as you are not a complete tool about it
BUT
If a guy is just posting a pic..... like the one guy of his wife learning to ride (and she happened to be a bit heavier) then he is NOT asking for your opinion on his wifes appearance, but wanting to share her achievements with you all............. COMMON SENSE people http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/bash.gif
bottom line, if they ask for your opinion, give it....... sensibly
If not............. SHUT YOUR PIE HOLE http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/flipa.gif

Ok bud I challenge you..No I DARE YOU to post a pic of your missus/ other half ex girlfriend or SO and me and a couple of the other memebers can rip the shit out of her and post some of the most obnoxious comments we can think of.
As a matter of fact I recon you'd last one, mabey two comments then you'd be beggin a moderator to remove the post and talk to the people that posted them.
And after you've had enough of our comments I'll use that good old excuse that I was exercising my god given right of freedom of speech and that I was drunk when I posted the offensive remarks and all will be better.
So C'mon bud get to snappin I wanna see the slapper your bangin.
Heh that rhymes.
Cactus 06-09-2004, 01:47 AM Just like I said about every other good post on gixxer. I could post a pic of the hottest chick with the hottest car or bike in the whole planet and it will always end negative. I go on alot of different forums and by far I love this one the most but I gotta tell youi this is the worst one for people bickering and bitching and fucking moaning! http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif I like this rule cause it will weed out some of the dicklicks and hopefully we can get back to checking out hot broads, bikes, cars, etc. As you were. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
bluspd 06-09-2004, 03:19 AM I agree w/this rule, people dont post pics of their wives and girlfriends to get bad comments about them. People need to have a little tact, if they dont like the way a person looks what is it accomplishing when they post shit like that? Do u think he or she is going to split up w/them based on a rude comment? I mean if u wouldent say ur comment in person why would u post it on here? I believe in the first ammendment right, but this is supposed to be a community of people w/a common interest, not somewhere people get ripped to shreds over a pic they post. Think about how boring the pics and vid section would be w/o personal pics, it would just be a bunch of reposts.

You and the rest are missing the point ENTIRELY!!! I realize that if I post a picture of my fiance on here, then it is fair game for comments... that's one reason I choose NOT TO DO IT!!!! She is a very beautiful woman.. so all of you that are going to use that somehow http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/flipa.gif
I myself have never made a negative comment about somebody's "personal" pictures and I probably never will, so once again, that isn't what this is about. You just need to have the common damn sense to see that there are assholes out there who are going to make comments and that you are subject to those by posting a picture in a public domain. You people that are so high and mighty about the "nice rule" are the same assholes that have made negative comments about other members (and photoshopping images) that could surely be seen as offensive... you have also made negative comments about others' religions, nationalities, and beliefs. In other words, get the fuck off of your holier than thou pedestool until you yourself are perfect and kind to all humanity.

Ogane 06-09-2004, 08:42 AM This thread is absolutely ridiculous. As I see it, it is very simple. Mr. Gixxer and the moderators take upon themselves, in their free time granted, to run this site. It is owned by them. Respect their freaking rules! If you do not agree with it, go somewhere else. I see everyone's point, pro and con. But it all boils down to, they are the propriotors of this site, they make the rules. I donated last year, but the funds for this year have been very very low. Half these people that are against the rule, do not even donate to the site, which even shows less substance in their argument!
This is their site, ran by them, obey their rules. Plain and simple.
Just my 2 cents worth, take it as you may.

People also PAY money to this site to help keep it up. Them making lame ass rules like this and threats only make people not want to donate money.

Ok I am confused now, you seem to be talking to a specific person.... Lets keep this civil if i am who you are talking to mmmmk
If you read my post, I said if a person posts pics of his wife or girlfriend basically saying "look at me" like both me and C5 vette and a few others have, we deserve all criticism good and bad...... and we (dilly and I) couldn't give two shits what you (you being the public) think if it IS negative... I know dilly is hot, and if you dont think so, thats fine, you are not the one married to her.
BUT........................
(as a for instance again) the guy who posted a thread saying "hey look my wife is learning to ride, I am so proud" was NOT looking for your comments on how over weight she is.
NOW..........
As far as GOGO5 goes.......... I NEVER fucked with gogo5, me and him get along alright, BUT he did come in here being a bit of a punk, and some of the regulars put him in his place. He learned from it and has been a good member of the site since then.
I HOWEVER did fuck with vinnysoprano.... he fucked with Dilly and Wifey, without EITHER of them provoking him. I came in and tried to stay out of it, but he kept on, and then posted a pic, and he got chopped. HE took it personal, I laughed the whole time. HE was at fault and not me, Hence the reason HE is banned and not I.
USE COMMON SENSE PEOPLE, Dont be a dick for no reason!!!!!!!!!! I think that is all they are saying.
Moto_Joe 06-09-2004, 12:53 PM PS we have NEVER had a mean or spitefull coment come from this board(other than vinny, who was trying to getback at me, by talking shit about dilly), so most of this does not even really pertain to me.
But we have on another board that asked premission to use her pics for a weekly hottie thread they have.
http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif I've said this once and I'll say it again; I LOVE GDC http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Man you guys crack me up so much, god relax! I agree that if you post a pic of your significant other, then prepare to deal with the negativity which accompanies such posts. If you feel you're not capable of dealing with criticism, be it good or bad, then don't post your pics. It's really not that hard to comprehend.
Now I must say that there is a time and place for the criticisms that do take place. MotoJoe is right. If someone posts a pic of their sig other proudly displaying her riding ability - there is no room for immature, infantile remarks about her physical appearance. Keep your mouth shut, it's courtesy that should be displayed for all who enjoy the sport we love.
Now Zam bro, you're a good guy and all, BUT if we implement this rule about courtesy towards those individuals posted, how about a racism rule? I take far more offense to all the crap spewed out by the some of the 'elite' here. If I had a girlfriend I can honestly tell you that I am more then man enough to handle any negative comments towards her appearance.
Oh well, if this rule goes through I'd love to see a racism rule too.
Traveling Man 06-09-2004, 05:21 PM I agree with the rule, not all people find the same kind of person attractive but at least show some restraint. I know if I were to hear a comment like that, drunk or not thier still gonna swallow thier own teeth. But then again thats just how I was brought up.
zameil 06-09-2004, 10:06 PM I feel a racism rule would be the end of GDC.
Some would call me a racist cause I don't like black people who continually remind us that they are black.
Racism in reverse I call it. Try calling a person of colour "Nigger" yet they are allowed to call us "Crackers".
Now if a black person wants to get a job, work hard, pay his taxes and intergrate into normal decent society and treat me with the same respect that I would treat him then I would be completely colourblind. I have family of colour, they work hard they are completely intergrated into "Our" way of life and I love their black asses more than anything else. I also have friends of colour and again they are mates I don't see them as black.
I'll go out on a limb here and give you an example, Waynesnside is a really cool guy I personally like the mans style. His posts are always cool and he was one of the members that originally helped me find my feet when I first joined. I know his skin colour and I couldn't care less he's a top bloke in my opinion. Yet there are other members here that the moment any form of the word black is used and theres hell to pay.
I guess what I'm saying is theres a difference.
My mother in law is Japanese and again its no biggie.
No, I feel that as knoble idea as it is a non racist rule would only inflame an already volitile situation.
How about this, We extend the be nice rule to making derogotory remarks about bikes, women , cars ,houses, income, politics, religion etc.
And we re word it to something along the lines of "If you disageee with the posters original intent then simply post that you don't really find that/this appealing to you" and leave the elaborate shitty comments out of it.
That way you get your precious freedom of speech and everyone play's nice.
It's not a backdown it's a re wording/reformatting.

This site never ceases to amaze me. Unfortunately you are the one with the power (as usual) to make stupid policies like the one you just made. "Now if a black person wants to get a job, work hard, pay his taxes and intergrate into normal decent society and treat me with the same respect that I would treat him then I would be completely colourblind" , does Mr. Gixxer agree with you on this matter? Do the other moderators agree with you?
If I had known that this was how it is going to be then I never would have become a MONTHLY SITE SUPPORTER. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/plthumbsdown.gif
My87Vette 06-10-2004, 12:06 AM Just to clear up, I am talking about nobody specific. It was easier to say wife than to type wife or girlfriend or sister...etc. It was definately not directed specifically at you.. No offence was meant to any particular person if it was taken. My comments were meant to be general. Like I said, I would never think of insulting somebody's picture or anything else for that matter. I just think it is funny how up in arms people got over this.
On the same note Moto Joe, if somebody makes a shitty comment, I say hell yea to getting back at them with funnier and meaner comments of your own.... stooping to somebody else's level is always fun. (It also gives people like me who USUALLY stay out of this shit something to laugh at.)

Im sorry but I have to disagree with this stupid rule.
Ok Mr. Boob dork with your stupid nice rule let me explain one thing if I was to put a picture of my wife on gixxer and someone had something mean, bad or nasty to say then it would be his opinion I STILL wouldn't care. 1- If it is my wife then i must see something in her and someone elses opinion wouldn't bother me because I am secure enough to know my wife is georgeous. 2- I knew that in putting her picture out that remarks are going to be said whether good or bad. 3- They have a right to say what they want and whether I like it or not I am not in power to tell them not to .
Seems as though you have taken this subject really personal what you having issues with your womans looks? Has someone hurt your feeling in the past in regards to your or your significant others looks? Or are you just trying to play Mr. Gixxer God? Either way you need a hug.

Srry if you took this to be harsh or rude but to be honest the way you speak to people is the way im going to talk to you. Moderator or no moderator you have to give a little respect to get it back. Oh and what the hell did you mean by integrated in-to OUR way of life? A black is only respected by you if he does what you do? ISnt a person a person regardless of his choice of lifestyle? Do you think god is going to say "you cant make it into heaven becuase you did not integrate in to this lifestyle"? You could have as many friends that are black, chinese, hispanic or other and still be a racist. That ideology that people have to be or act the way you do to be equal is as racist as it comes.

This thread is absolutely ridiculous.
Finally someone who speaks it the way it is. I will follow the rules as they are listed because I understand that this is a free place it is a place that is operated by others. But I still believe that GOD is the only one that should be able to block my free-speech. I have never been disrespectful to any on this site because I am not that type of person but when I do I make a simple comment and get attacked I tend to attack back.

They lack any form of manners, in my opinion. When you say as much, they throw the "I can say whatever I want" crap at you. . . it just pisses me off. I treat people how I want to be treated, but in today's society it's an outdated idea and nobody gives a flying flip about anyone but themselves.

To thos who don't want this rule go back and look at a few things.
1, Look at the amount of people for it (theres more than those against it)
2, Take a look at the ones who are against it. Most of them are the ones who either have been warned for making asshat remarks or have a custom title for being dicks.
Facts, ladies and gentlemen speak for themselves.
The rule stands and until either Mr G or Antonio or another "Owner" tells me different it stands. You'll live (gives the whingers a hug). Rest assued though there will be healthy debate over either descision.

Well, really, we actually don't like it very much but we're all forced to be nice or risk getting a custom title or banned from this site.
Maybe we need to remove the thumbs down smily, and the pissing smily and the hammer one too just so that people dont get any ideas of being mean, rude, or offensive. What makes the internet so popular is that there are no rules. If you dont want to hear/read people's opinions then the internet is not where you really want to be.

fireman jb 06-12-2004, 12:17 AM If there asking you to rate something, and you don't like it then tell them. They asked! Yu don't ahve to tell them their girl or bike is nasty just tell them it's not your style. Or you don't like the color or the hair what ever.
One of my posts started this "be nice deal". I posted pics of my wife learning to ride. It was her first day riding and she was excited and I was excited I had to tell everyone I knew. So I posted a few pics of here and told my little story about how proud and excited I was about her picking up on it so quick. Everyone was cool and saying she looked comfortable and giving me hard time about how she will be passing me up after while, or could teach me a thing or 2. Thats all cool. But then some ass gets on and asks if that was a chick in the pics. Obviously I posted that was my wife. Then he made some other comments about her being a cow or some shit like that. I didn't ask how my wife looked on the bike or if she was hot. So why post and ruin the thread? So like I said earlier it is all common sense. Granted I'm secure and love my wife and some ass isn't going to change anything beween her and I.
I was upset becuase I've been trying to get my wife on here as a member and talk to the ladies and what not. But the first time she gets on here and reads the thread I put up about her riding you have some guy asking if she is a chick and she's a cow. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/plthumbsdown.gif
Just my little rant cuase I think some people on here didn't really know where most of this came from. Just remember common sense. LIke Dilly said just like you learned in elem. school "treat others how you would like to be treated".

punkadilly 06-13-2004, 11:31 PM Ok, I'm completely frustrated here. . .what part of "be nice" do ya'll interpret to mean "don't state a negative opinion"? Feel free to exercise that freedom of speech bro, just do it elsewhere. Or better yet, save yer shit comments for face to face conversations, or does that take too much balls for ya? Just walk in to your local bar, go up to the first couple you see, and exercise your freedom to tell that guy his girl is an ugly mule. With freedom comes responsibility. Try excercising a little of that and a little common decency too. Just because I have the freedom to go around telling everyone I meet exactly what I think of them doesn't mean I'm going to. You are a funny individual. Who said anything about going into a bar and telling a guy that his girl is busted.
No one is going around GDC telling a guy that his significant other is busted without the guy asking for an opinion. If the guy in the bar brings his girl into the men's room and asks me what I think of his girl, I will tell him the truth. If he doesn't like what I had to say then he should not have brought her in there and ASKED FOR MY OPINION. Now if
Why don't you guys get it, don't post the picture and ask for opinions if you can not take the good with the bad. Now if someone does not ask for your opinion on their significant others' looks and you offer it up anyway, then you should be prepared for what may ensue.
IF YOU HAVE THE BALLS TO PUT THE PIC UP AND ASK FOR OPINIONS, THEN YOU SHOULD HAVE THE BALLS TO DEAL WITH THE ANSWERS. ..

while I am all about treating others with respect, we are all adults here (mostly), and we are always going to have a few people that are a little more outspoken than others.
I def agree with this guy. If you think you can't handle the comments, dont post hte picture at all!!!

Your statement is totally wrong Hammer. I posted a pic of my wife learning to ride. Just telling people how excited I was and a few pics of her first day riding. Some asshole gets on here and calls her a cow and asks if that was a chick. I didn't ask for anyones opinion!! So yes people do make comments without people asking for them.
Fireman
[/QUOTE]
I was not speaking of that incident. If that is what happened, I would have just banned the person who made the comment. Don't listen to any of those assholes that make comments like that. At least you are not posting nude pics of your wife and asking for what we think.
What self respecting person would put naked pics of their loved one on a public forum. You know what they say, once you put a pic on the internet, then it stays on the internet forever. Look at the pics of firefighters wife, still circulating on the net even after he removed them.
zameil 06-18-2004, 09:56 PM You would have had them banned.
Whos the forum nazi?
What happened to freedom of speech?
Man check whats been said beofre you post please?
fireman jb 06-18-2004, 10:00 PM I agree with you totally on that. You will never see my wife on here and me asking for opinions. It's like people need self assurance that they made the right choice. I don't need to hear what others think of my wife. The only thing that fired me up was she got on here for her first time and read it. I've been hounding here to get on here and become a member but the first tiime she even reads a post there is some ass calling her a cow and asking if she was a woman. It didn't even bother her, I got a lot more fired up then she did.
MalaFe 06-19-2004, 01:32 AM I agree with this rule.

Hey genius, if a man posts a pic of his wife learning to ride and some dick says that she is a fat cow; I would not have hesitated to ban them. However if the same guy asks us about the appearance of his wife, then he should be prepared to take the bad with the good.
Fireman did not ask for an opinion on what we thought of his wife's looks, he just posted pics of her riding and stating how proud he was. There was no need to make mention of her looks. Obviously the person who made that comment should have been banned, period. We have no room for crap like that.

Just remember this fireman, people that make comments like that are usually the ones that have some serious self image issues. They try to put everyone else down to make themselves feel better.
GixxerSteph 06-21-2004, 01:30 AM I agree that comments should be tasteful and respectful to the person who posted the picture.
PacificR 06-27-2004, 08:57 PM Funny how I don't think the rule would hold if I'd post a picture of myself. Nice rule.
gsxr pimp 03 750 07-04-2004, 02:04 PM I agree that this is ridiculous, banning people for their opinions is over the top. If these people feel it is necessary to post pics of their wife or g/f then they should be able to take what is said about her. Some guys just need the reality check that their girl is not good looking. We are just saying what all of their friends are thinking.

ssgsky 07-16-2005, 02:22 PM ya know, i watched the g/f - wife forum develop, also there was at least one pic that was a guy's ex-gf, isn't that an infringement upon her ? because in the post it also said she did not know about it being posted.
to reference the post on page 7 "GOD given right to free speech", most of the world does not have the right to free speech, we, as americans are constitutionally entitled to freedom of speech, but that does not necessarily mean that every person has a right to be entitled to know, or acknowledge your opinion. I am not blasting you, just clarifying it. and it is the same police, government officials, military members etc.....that people badmouth that allow the use of free speech and expression

It's a damn shame I had to post that but it's the only way to get through to some people.
Making rude comments about someone else's wife, girlfriend, whatever, is totally unacceptable and I'm glad you've taken a strong stand on this moronic behavior. Please flush those guys (I'm sure a small minority, it usually is) down the toily bowl if they can act decently.
Thank you.
I still object to this rule.
Just make your way over to the Politics and Current Affairs Forum ... you'll see that racism, bigotry and ignorance runs wild, yet it's accepted. God forbid I call some redneck's wife unattractive http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

:roll
how do you mod some things but let others fly??
im glad i dont have that job :-/:
Nik0lishious 04-12-2006, 09:38 PM Im sorry but I have to disagree with this stupid rule.
There is a fine line between "freedom of speech" and making a COMPLETE ASSHOLE out of one's self. And I must say you definitely crossed that line. Everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion, however, some things are better left unsaid...most decent people are conscious of what those things are. YOU obviously are not one of those people. I would really like to see a picture of YOU...I am sure you are perfect 10!

aMarkedR 10-27-2006, 07:38 PM yah know it's a shame most people on this forum are old enough to know how to act... but some people get their kicks putting other people down, cause they need to feel better about themselves... so just ignore those people and eventually they will get tired of getting no response. If you post, you do have to be able to accept criticism. It's important to understand that the opinions are just that... opinions of people you will never know. Let's all be mature... :mad not everyone plays nice... be prepared... people that don't play nice usually aren't. don't let them get to you if you are posting... :cursing

I just joined this forum and I like it already. There are other Suzuki sportbike owners site that dont care what is said about anothers wife/girlfriend/SO.:cheers
DeeOne 10-11-2007, 07:03 PM while I am all about treating others with respect, we are all adults here (mostly), and we are always going to have a few people that are a little more outspoken than others.
I just would like to say that if a member post a Pic of his wife, girlfriend, boyfriend and "ASK" for an opinion on how she/he looks well, hey free game. Don't ask if you don't want the opinion of others. But if a member post a pic to show his bike, house, cat, dog, and his girlfriend, boyfriend so happens to be in the pic and the topic has nothing to do with it, shame on you, and Yes that person should be banded for a month or two.

CableTec 10-06-2008, 10:09 AM Freedom of speach allows this. Thats why you can look at a cop and tell him to fuck off and there is nothing he can do.
Yeah, I'm sure you go around telling cops to fuck off. This is what kills me about these kinds of forum topic online. There's always some retard who claims it's his God given right to go around acting like an asshole......well, at least online anyway, since that person can hide behind a keyboard.
Then this same person will claim they act the same way in public, which is of course, a complete crock of shit because we all know that they'd either end up in jail, or half dead from a beating before the week is out.
Gotta love internet "courage". :lol
Oh, and learn to spell while you're claiming your right to free SPEECH, not "speach".

For the most part, I agree!
There are times, however, when there are exceptions to that rule. Bad or dangerous advice being the #1 exception.
If i see dangerous advice given that will put rider/machine at risk I hold little back to get my message across. Most of us are experienced here, but newbies surface constantly, seeking advice from the learned.
Advice is like an opinion but sometimes it's just bad, wrong or worst case scenario, dangerous!

This is very fucking simple.

GSXR7ED 01-14-2012, 08:23 AM Some things never change. I used the term, "If you don't have nothin' nice to say, don't say nothin' at all" recently. Then I see this topic in bold.
People need boundaries so they know how much they can push the limits. People also don't like rules or be told what to do. If you (the individual) were not taught that growing up then you won't apply it as an adult.
I believe in freedom of speech but have no problem seeing an individual being reprimanded for stupid behavior. I apply the notion of "keep it professional" even under austere conditions. It's a tough challenge but keeps me within those boundaries.
Owners/Operators of this site; my hats off to you. You're doing something I wouldn't want to do. Keep it up cause I'm sticking around.

oldgixxer 05-26-2012, 05:22 AM I guess no one is following this rule on my posts right.....
Dude, the rule that Zam posted specifically says in the first paragraph "WIFE,GIRLFRIEND,OR SIGINIFICANT OTHER". It was initiated long before you were here and was directed at male members nitpicking pictures of females, that were posted by said females boyfriends, husbands or significant others.
In no way, shape,or form was it ever meant to apply to dudes posting pics of themselves(IE-you)in open forums&to protect/dissuade dude-on-dude bashing that is the norm here on GDC when you post a pic of yourself.
IMO,if you had posted that exercise bike pic in health&fitness none of the ensuing lulz would have occurred....Well,maybe a little bit but not as much as is currently taking place. Shame on you:dissapointed
