: Force myself to eat?

So here it goes. I got into an accident about a year ago. Was off my feet for about 9 months and in that period I went through intense self pity and kinda put on a good amount of weight. Recently, I started working out more and more to lose the 40+ pounds I put on.

But since I started working out, I've kind of lost the urge to eat. I'll start off the day with a raisin bagel no cream cheese and 2% milk or water. Then for lunch I'll eat some type of lean meat and iced tea/water. At 7:00 I'll work out until 8:00. When I first start working out I'm pretty hungry, but after I'm done, I'm just not. Should I force myself to eat at least a little something after working out?

Edit: Forgot to mention, this has been going on for about a week and a half now.

Hell, if you're not hungry, don't eat. Listen to your body. If it wants food, you'll know.

If you want to get really beefy and thick then you will. I can assure you that.....I am trying to get up to 450-500 bench press and Ill be damned if I can do it without eating alot to meet the demands of my bodies burnaing energies...

What if I am trying to lose the excess weight before bulking up?

You should really try to eat 5-6 times a day. If you don't eat, your body is just going to hold onto what you are eating and not burn it. Eating 5-6 times each day ups your metabolism, and actually you'll lose more weight eating more times a day, then not eating. Before working out you should load up on carbs, it'll give you a great workout (am I right guys?)

I"m trying to lose excess weight, and have sucessfully lost about 18 lbs in 2 months. I'm eating 5-6 meals a day, not full meals, but smaller meals. Here's what I eat:

Breakfast: Bowl of Kashi or Special K and 1% milk
Snack: Yogurt or Carrots /w fat free sour cream dip
Lunch: Salad w/ chicken or tuna or chicken w/brown rice
Snack: Apple or peice of fruit
Dinner: Chicken again or pork or something healthy...

And that's it. I give myself a cheat meal once a week, to keep myself from craving crap. Check out some other threads in here, there's lots on what to eat and when!

http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif And I thought it was only me!!! http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif mmmmm Chicken. But don't worry, you figure out other ways to cook it, and it will all seem different. F/example right now i'm having grilled chicken w/ a little bbq sauce, and brown rice http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/yumyum.gif There is other stuff that you can eat, another example I make a whole wheat pita pizza, 1 whole wheat pita, fat free mozzarella cheese, marinara sauce, and broccoli, onions, peppers, etc. or whatver veggies you like. Pop er' in the oven for about 5 minutes on 350 until the cheese is melted http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/yumyum.gif It's yummy, but kind of high in carbs, so it's a good pre-workout meal. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

What salad dressings do you guys recommend? I'm staying away from the creamy types but the Italian dressing I like to use is pretty high in sodium.

anything *light* hace a decent amount of sodium in it, not as bad as regular types. just cut back on the dressing a bit. youll get use to it. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

i splash a little oil & vinegar on my salads... i soak fresh minced garlic and other spices in the oil to add a bit more flavor too. toss some grilled chicken in the salad and i'm in chow-town! http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/yumyum.gif
