Help please, I bought a 2000 600 SRAD back in August, had a wee problem with an oil leak so had to replace a crank case cover, that fixed it but then I had splatters of oil on the RHS of the bike, just traces on the exhaust pipe(near the foot peg), top of the frame rail and down the clutch cover...I found a reasonable Qty of oil in the air box, ive cleaned this out a couple of times , I think the bike was over filled with oil , I emptied some of it from the sump, the problem has lessened, bike has done 13k miles but I still got the odd trace of splatter, any ideas?

I also thought the carburation was horrid from when I got it, sometimes when you back off(say waiting for a clear over take or picking up from a corner) and then whack it open at high RPM, it pauses before clearing its throat and picking up again.

I had the bike dynoed ,this confiirmed my thoughts ,power curve was very ragged , running lean all over the place and over a few runs, in no one particular area but up until 3-4k RPM its fine

She gave 93RWHP on one run, 89RWHP on another which seeing how its running I didnt think was too bad.

Dyno chap said £125 for a carb strip/fettle with parts extra, is there a carb refresh kit I can buy and is the job DIYable?

Any advice welcome

Thanks

if 125 is including the price of all parts and labor with setup on a dyno then its an amazing deal in my eyes. isnt a jet kit about 100 bucks on its own? add that to the shop stripping the carbs down, cleaning, building, jetting, syncing, and final dyno tuning and id think it would be much more

It is pounds mate..that is excluding parts thou...A jet kit as in a dynojet kit? I wouldnt need oneof them, the only change to the bike is an end can, I would have thought within the parametrs of fettling with the standard jets/needles..? From what ive been told, Dynojet kits dot have a good rep on these bikes..
Id like to have a go at stripping the crabs myself but have no idea what im looking for or what im checking.

Any other advice regards the carb settings/the bike running lean would be appreciated, is this something i could tackle myself?

I also noticed today a "L" shaped piece of plastic near the airbox, joined to a rubber tube, another(perished and split) rubber tube nearby appears like it would fit into this? Maybe the cause of my problems?

Thanks in advance..

also you may want to put in a filter like bmc or k&n in and any other mods before you spring to get the tuno tune done..

Anymore for anymore? Please!

I took the bike out Sunday and the carburation was hornedous..it was often bogging and spluttering and causing it to slow if anything before taking an age and clearing its throat and revving out...
