I have two computers that are networked. I can share files between the two, but I can't get it to be password protected. I remember password protecting a computer on a network beforee http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif For some reason I can't find where it is http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

What I am trying to accomplish: Computer 1 trying to access the shared files on computer 2 and computer 2 pops up a password screen.

When you right click on the drive you want to share ("sharing and security"), it only has two options. One is "share this on network" and the other is "allow network users to change files," but not password protect stufffff http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Anyone http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif I am GDC's computer retard http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif TIA

from windows explorer ->tools -> folder options -> view tab-> scroll down and uncheck "Use simple file sharing"

edit: oh yeah, that will allow you to set permissions when sharing your folders/drives. You can also always connect to a network drive by using an admin account and the $ sign. e.g. <network path>\c$ for c drive and the admin account of the network comp of course.

Oh wait, I think with home edition you can boot into safe mode, and get all the security permissions. But you must boot to safe mode each time to modify them. Try it out http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
