In the break down lane, doing 20 to keep cool in stopped traffic, no registration with me and no inspection sticker.

Went in to get inspected today (i know its stupidly late) and failed miserably.

Integrated taillights - FAIL
No License Plate Light - FAIL
No Chain Guard - Fail.

Anyways i can fix the taillights and license plate bulb cheap enough. Does anyone have a chain guard for sale? :suicide

Why are you in the break down lane? Is lane sharing not legal in your state?

You should install a manual fan switch to help with the temps.

Yea i am thinking thats a good idea. Lane sharing is only allowed with another motorcycle, and lane splitting is ilegal :banghead

I tell people all the time that intergrated tailights...while cool - will fail inspection unless the bike comes stock with them. Or it may pass depending on which Joe Shmoe gas station you go to.

I can send you a small 3 light LED for the license plate. My bike had a shit ton of blue LEDs all over it when I bought it - that's what I planned on using it for - but don't care enough to take the time to connect the power and ground wire to something. LOL

I do not know of ANY state that it is legal to split lanes. In California it is Lane Sharing and that is legal. Once you start to cross over the lines, your now able to be ticketed for unsafe/excessive lane changing. It is also up to the officer, since the DMV says you must share lanes in a safe manor... lol

I got caught in the rain coming back from NJ this year on the bike. It was about 7 or 8pm - I was around Delaware when the traffic came to a halt. Needless to say, I rode the shoulder at around 20 mph for about an hour and a half until traffic picked back up lol. Even passed some other bikers standing still in traffic, but also had some that were already riding the shoulder.

I dont get my bike inspected for the sole purpose of getting out of speeding tickets and just getting wrote for the inspection. . no points - win. Works every time for me, but its not that often I get stopped anyway.

Of course I keep up on regular maintenance. I don't think any dopehead can inspect my bike better than me.

Damn, that's a rough state to inspect in.

That's funny. One time on my way from NJ to Maryland, my brother and I followed a Harley down the shoulder of the Turnpike for about an hour.

Inspection? WTF is an inspection? Another reason to live in the south. I once saw a guy driving with no hood. And nobody gave a fuck or even looked twice.

I live in mass, and they are ball busters, but I got a good friend who does them for me. He doesn't even check my bike. Just collects the 15 bucks and throws the sticker on the plate.

correct me if I am wrong, but the chain guard off a 600 is different then the one off a 750. different type of swing arm?

EDIT: Went to the garage and checked it out, I had a 600 guard that I grabbed off Ebay a awhile ago, reason I still have it under the bench is that it didn't fit on my Swing Arm. The 750 has a different brace on it then the 600, so the guard is a bit different. Can I get a confirm on this? I only have a 750, so I don't actually have the bikes to compare, not saying that I didn't buy a guard that said 600 and was actually off something else. But with what I have in front of me, they are different.

the 750 on bolts to the swing arm brace so i would think the 600 would be different since it doesn't have the brace

this was really odd for me to adjust to moving to south carolina.

they don't even have emissions testing, no joke haha

you can have the loudest pipes you want with the stupidest headlights, neons, and probably a feather boa flying off the back without question.

if it's got a plate, and it rolls, it can be on the street. it's kinda sketchy sometimes

Cali does not test bikes for SMOG, but if you get caught without the correct hardware, you can get a fine. This includes the pipe.
If you are caught with non DOT lights, you can get a fine.

Cali seems to be rather easy going with the bikes, unless you piss off the cop, then it is a whole different story. Perfect story to tell....

Group of about 10 bikes all riding up the Crest (VERY hot riding area and VERY hot with CHP). We end up getting pulled over for speeding (I was pissed, 10 over to pass a car that would not go the speed limit and WOULD NOT use the turn outs to let us pass), a friend of mine is not happy and makes it VERY well known...

Said friend has the EXACT same bike as mine but in blue/white and mine is red/black.
List of things wrong with the bikes in the eyes of the state.
No horn
Modified exhaust
Non-DOT approved blinkers
No License plate light

I think that was it... Said person that was not happy left with a ticket for not only speeding, but for all of the listed infractions above. I walked with only a speeding ticket (would rather of had only the infractions, but oh well). The same CHP inspected both bikes, his just before mine...

Anyhow. It goes to show how much they will let you get away with if you act as an adult. lol

a guy we were riding the twisties with had plates...but for a different bike :lol - cop ran the tags - calmly got out of the car - walked over to the bike (we were all waiting our turn to be talked to) pulled out some pliers - snip snip - bent the plate in half and put it in his pocket :lmao OWNT. he told the guy a tow truck was on the way. We all got our tickets ( I got one for no mirrors) and finished the route - doubled back - and the dude that just had his plates snatched was gone. (no tow truck could have got there that fast) lol

Back in 1994 I was leaving my girlfriends house and her brother need a ride into town (I know....dude on the back, major violation), so off we went. We were cruising pretty fast on my '93 ZX7 at 120+ and when I get into Lawton, the highway patrol has a roadblock set up for up: barricades, spike strips, the works. I pull over and we lay on the ground, officer tells me that they had been chasing (I never saw them) and had been turning off the A/C, etc and still couldn't keep me in sight.
Officers look at my ID, registration, asks where I work (dealership) and realizes that my boss' dad is the 2nd highest ranking highway patrolman in the state......says that will be all, you can go now......
No tickets, beatdown, nothing......despite the roadblock and all, lucky day.

it's kinda cool to not have to worry about how loud your pipes are and what not, yeah. there's also no helmet law around here soooo basically it's not even illegal to be as squidy as humanly possible.

i don't mind the loud pipes, no helmet law, and no emissions, but there are some thing that need to just stay off the road. i hope they inspect big trucks :shifty
