Hi

got a used 1999 SRAD and received my lowering links yesterday. Researching online it seemed pretty easy to swap out the stock links with lowered ones. To my surprise last night i spent 3 1/2 hours trying to loosen the bolts holding the exisiting links in place. I had the bike stand supoprting the rear tire, front wheel braked and supported in place my two wood blocks, my car jack was underneath the spring pushing it up to support the spring and allow the links free play, used wd40 on the bolts to loosen them, used several wrenches a no go, used a lock vice wrench no go, they only thing i havent used is an impact drill/wrench but i fear i might stripe the bolt head.

Any suggestions?

Use whatever it takes to remove them and just replace them as necessary.
They sometimes become frozen due to their proximity to the elements.
A little penetration fluid on the threads should help.
Are you SURE you are turning them in the right direction?

Most of the time when I first remove them after years, it takes a impact gun.

I am turning the bolts left (lefty loosey). I have yet to try an impact gun/drill or breaker bar in fear of stripping the bolts. I guess If it came down to it I can always hacksaw the bolts and replace them afterwards

Thanks for the input

I must sometimes step on a boxed wrench while pulling on the other side to get them loose.

Two people with breaker bars, that's how I removed the lowering links from my bike when I bought it. My impact gun couldn't even break it loose.

Also, turn the NUT, not the bolt.
