: Crashed
SF GIXXER 04-07-2004, 07:23 PM OK here is the deal. A friend of mine crashed with only 229 miles on his new 600 and for some reason he did not have full coverage insurance. I am going to try to help him rebuild this thing if we can. I know there are not alot of parts(used) out there yet but anyone who knows of anyone that may have any parts please let me know. Also if anyone knows of any parts from other years that will fit the 04 that would be good to know information also. Here are a few pics to let you know what we need
Already have a pipe. Thanks goodness we did not put it on yet.

the Doctor 04-07-2004, 07:31 PM Aww......the humanity!
What did he do it?
SF GIXXER 04-07-2004, 07:39 PM What did he do it?
Say again...
the Doctor 04-07-2004, 07:50 PM Oops, sorry. I meant...what did he do to it? How'd the bike end up in the ditch? Looks like it just needs a new subframe, tail light and fairings along with the pipe he has. Did he end up in the ditch as well? Hope he's alright.
SF GIXXER 04-07-2004, 08:56 PM He did end up in the ditch but is fine. He had a sore ankle and some rash on one of his arms. We were going down a road when he went into a dust cload from a farmer plowing a field. I also went through the dust cloud and was surprised that I lost sight in it. It was bigger then I thought it would be. I guess it effected him a little more then me plus when he got to it he was just before the curve. Well he was on the edge of the road just into the dirt (I guess) when he came out if the dust and everything else is history. I think the bike would have been a little better off without the frame sliders. He dumped it on the left side at first but the damn slider dug into the dirt and caused the bike to flip end over end. We could see where the slider dug in and then where the tail hit and broke all apart. We will see what happens. I am sure we will be able to get it back on the road. It may take a while but we will get it back.
ballistic04_750 04-07-2004, 09:07 PM Well, maybe your friend should rethink this bike thing (seriously). He just bought a new 6, still under 200 miles and supposedly on the break-in phase and getting acclimated to the dynamics of the bike and this is what happened http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/nono.gif?? First off he shouldn't even be pushing that hard yet. Part of good vision skills is when you see a farm tractor and lots of dust is to scan ahead and slow in advance....aahh, forget the good judgement sermon this guy is hopeless!! Buy him a pedal bike http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/idea.gif.
SF GIXXER 04-07-2004, 09:14 PM We were not going that fast, he was breaking it in correctly, and he just made a mistake that any of us could have made when we were just starting out. It was an accident. I think everyone has been down at one point in thier riding. He just got his out of the way up front. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Dude get off your horse. Road hazards are hard to predict and control. Sometimes "shit happens" and no one can say they would have done better in the situation without being there. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/bitchslap.gif
antonio 04-07-2004, 09:27 PM Sorry to see a new bike go down.
Damage looks pretty bad. I would say you are looking at all new fairings, new sub frame, new mirror, new left case cover, etc. Probably $3k at least if you find some parts used, more if all new from dealer.
Drop Chip at Ron Ayers a e-mail for some good new prices on the parts.

Don't get me f**k'n started, it's because of guys like this ass that people can't afford insurance and have to get out of the sport. You need to get off your horse and see the big picture.. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/wait.gif
the Doctor 04-07-2004, 10:40 PM What are you talking about, dude? This guy ain't even claiming his accident. He doesn't even have full coverage. How would he cause rates to go up?
Gixxer037 04-07-2004, 10:48 PM why dont you guys try to sell it as is. i used to work with crashed bikes and people will pay a little over half of the bikes value. it shouldnt be hard to sell it either. in my opinion you could get 4000 for it easy. and if u think about it to fix that bike it will cost you 3k or more. so if you;re goin to spend 3 on a bike to get it fixed you might as well just add 3k to a new one.
kraeji 04-07-2004, 10:55 PM wow.. another reason not to buy a new bike for your first bike

use brain, then post dude. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/applause.gif you were once a newbie too, give the guy a break. he's asking for help finding parts, not 'help me scam the insurance company.'
good luck getting the bike back together. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif
nicknageli 04-08-2004, 12:02 AM Poor dude. Glad he's okay.

Cobra870 04-08-2004, 06:05 AM Sorry to hear about the guys accident, but I don't have any remorse for newbies that jump right onto an "R" bike, and dump it.

I too did not think he should start on that bike. All we can do now is try to get it back together. Thanks for all the comments both good and bad. I will share everyones information with him and let him decide what he wants to do.

You guys that are bashing are serious assholes. What makes you think that this would not have happened on a 250. He went in to a dust cloud for christ sakes, shit happens.
If you guys want to bitch about insurance so much, get off of your bikes and start taking public transportation. And if you want to bash someone, bash the track day guys that crash and claim that it happened on the street.
If I were him I would do the same thing, try to fix it myself out of pocket. Also for your information I have full coverage and still would not claim anything under 2000 worth of damage.
devenwood 04-08-2004, 11:08 AM How did he leave the dealership without full coverage ? I'm assuming he financed it and all the bikes I bought from dealerships wanted proof of full coverage before leaving with a bike ? Just curious and I feel bad for him.

I have no clue how he did that. I ask him and he said they did not make him have anything but liability.
Team_Squid 04-08-2004, 11:52 AM I have body work and all the other crap that came off my race prepped bike. Yes it is even yellow. Depending on how bad he wants to fix it I might even be willing to switch tanks. Let me know.

yello_ranger 04-08-2004, 12:35 PM Most Banks will finance a Motorcyle as a Line of Credit or Credit Card balance instead a Vehical Loan...This allows them to drive off without Full Coverage Insurance...Most Dealerships handle the Financing Options and only require Liability to drive off the lot...
I would suggest checking out Ron Ayers...They have the best prices...I have ordered from them and my order was correct and on time...You can use the Micro fiche and order all the parts you need...I would not recommend going thru the Dealership...
mmmbarley 04-08-2004, 12:51 PM damn sad sight to see a new gixxer in the mud. Good luck with the bike. take the racer up on his offer!
BeeStang 04-08-2004, 07:41 PM When I bought my bike here in SC about 8 months ago, they didn't even care that this was going to be my first bike over 50 cc and that i didn't have a motorcycle license... Right b4 i took off i said "1 up 5 down right?" and i was serious. He said "no, just the opposite." And off I went.
steptomyjett 04-08-2004, 08:21 PM hey guys unfortantly i bought a new gixxer 600 yellow and black to and i laid it down 3 weeks after having it. a friend and i were riding down a coutry road and we were going around a long corner and a lady was backin out into the raod and both of us ending in the ditch. my friends 03 600rr was totaled and my bike has about $1900 worth of damage. i got my local dealership (ron ayers) fixing it up for me next week. shit sucks and yes this is my first bike but not the first time riding so

04gixxer 04-08-2004, 08:36 PM hmmmm...... when i bought my bike in Illinois, they did not require insurance at all........ i dont know why......... but just a suggestion.......... i would look around for people who have converted their bike to a race bike and ask them if they are willing to sell their parts.. i bet it would be cheaper....good luck.
steptomyjett 04-08-2004, 08:46 PM yo this guy is converting his 04 gixxer over to racing. i know its not the same color but you could prolly pick up some cheap parts from him. copy and paste the link

the Doctor 04-09-2004, 12:34 AM Man, that sucks for your and your friend. Who fault did the cops say it was and if it was the lady's, is her insurance gonna cover it?
steptomyjett 04-09-2004, 06:37 AM nope the bitch took off. and the only thing i could tell you about the car was that it was a white 4door. i guess i should have paid a lil more attention but hell i was trying to save my bike and my life. other than that are insurance has to take the hit cause they cant find the car
GIXZER 04-09-2004, 09:35 AM these days the dealership can find an outside loan with a much higher rate but would not require full coverage- everyones doing it but 15% thats crazy http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/bash.gif- youd pay for the the bike twice over http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/cry.gif- in the end your better off getting a low rate loan and getting the full coverage
westE 04-10-2004, 04:05 PM i got a mint set of 04 gsxr 750 bodywork with ZERO miles on it, i took it all off to make it into a racebike. it is the yellow and black color scheme. i'll sell you the set for $1250 no tank with extras if you need them...like headlight tail light mirrors pegs, full stock exahust, and other goodies......or your other option is...i am looking for a 04 600 to make a track bike out of...i will buy the bike if you are looking to sell it.....

RaspKing 04-10-2004, 11:21 PM Well if it makes anyone feel better my 04 750 went down on the 3rd week I had it too. Although it wasn't 100% my fault the fall wasn't nearly as bad as these guys. I got away with a few scratches on the right fairing, a broken turn signal and a cracked upper fairing bracket. Its only minor superficial damage, but its true what they say. "Shit happens"
Oh, and new tires suck for the first 500 miles. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
greg750 04-11-2004, 10:14 AM What seperates a new rider from an experienced one are three key things.
1) Patience
2) Logic
3) Self restraint and will power. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/lick.gif
Everytime I throw my leg over my bike I try to remeber these three things.
It's a good habit to pick up.
hotrodwoogie 04-14-2004, 12:25 PM hey i am the one who actually put this bike down that is on this post if you could get ahold of me email me at brian.woogerd@us.army.mil thanks

T-1000 04-18-2004, 11:16 AM Hey, steptomyjett
I have a question. You say she was backing into the road right? from a driveway? who's house? her house? If it was someone elses house, find out what they know about the person... tell em anything you have to to get the name and phone of the person that was here recently driving a white 4 door car.
steptomyjett 04-18-2004, 11:39 AM we did that. i dont speak spanish and the car backin out didnt look like it belonged there. shit was way to nice. im not stereotyping here but its a case that could be made
