Hey all,

I just put a Akrapovic Evo system and a PC3 usb on my 2002 1K. I have no access to any Dyno here in Korea to make a custom map and as this is my first PC I am a total http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/squid.gif to all this fuel configuration stuff.

I loaded the PC with a map from Dynojet (full power European GSXR1000 with Akrapovic full exhaust and stock or K&N filter). All though I haven't had the chance to "explore" this new mapping fully I recall that I did redline in 2nd gear with the stock system at 201 km/h. With the new system I redlined in 2nd at 193. There might be other factors playing in here, headwind/tailwind, but what you sau guys?
I also noticed that the bike "hunts" on idle and was a little bit harder to start. Any ideas?

After an unfortunate lowside http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/bash.gif there is a minor bump/scratch in the midpipe near the cannister. Could this "damage" the airflow and have any effect on the HP

I would like to try and experiment a little while I am in this learning phase. Anyone have any maps they think would be suitable?

I also have a used Yosh EMS. Are the Yosh/PC maps compatible?

Thanks

Did you get my post about this subject before the server went down and half the posts were lost?

One quick thing, dont use the european maps if your in the states. Their bikes run on different fuels and are put togeather different.

I ran a euro map on my bike and it made it run like shit.

Don't use the Yoshi maps with the PC 3R.
As far as the searching on the idle circuit I have had the same thing on some maps. It is a little bit of a trade off when looking for horspower. You sometimes have to give up the smooth idle for more power depneing on hwo the map is set up. If it is not efecting the performance don't be to concerned with the idle as long as it is a minor rpm search.
For a general rule of thumbs on mapping the stock setup is normaly a little on the rich side so performance is usually gained by leaning the fuel tables. The engines will also normally tollerate about 3 to 5 degress of ignition advance.

DO NOT LEAN out your map, especially on the top end. The bike will a full pipe will need fuel, not less fuel. Your surging at idle is probably caused by the pipes lack of back pressure, Akrapovics commonly do this....my yosh does too. I wouldn't worry about it unless it dies or is very hard to start. My bike with a full yosh likes 2-5% more fuel at idle depending on atmospheric conditions to start up quick and idle when cold.

When playing around with the mapping you need to be very careful. Unfortunately the butt dyno doesn't show dips and un wanted curves in the power band. Try adding like 3 degrees of ignitions and 5% fuel after about 7,000rpms.

From my experiences, the stock (zero) map has been pretty smooth on the bottom end. Most of my riding is above 4,000rpms so I don't bother with anything low and never felt to....but that's just me.

Good luck http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
