anybody done this? is my bike going to essplode immediately? I figure the rear will still wear out first unless I cup the front like in the old days. let me have it. :chucks

Lot's of guys run mixed tires without issue.

I prefer to run matched tires but that is just my personal preference.

I agree with raider although I'm not keen on this issue at all.

No problem at all - I have a Power 2CT on the front and a Pure on the rear of my street bike and I use that to instruct in Novice and Intermediate on the track, serving considerably more punishment to them than you ever could on the road. Their profiles match well so no worries :)

I asked this same question a few weeks ago and I got the same answers as you. Although I ended up buying a set and selling my still 'decent' front 2CT to someone before I even left the shop after getting them mounted/balanced.

I'm currently running a pure in the front and a 2CT in the rear. I caught a screw in the Pure that was on the rear and prices went up when i tried to obtain another pure just for the rear (they wanted like 200 vs 140 for a 2CT) I don't like mixing brands or models but so far everything has been just fine

Street riding should be street riding and cheaper is cheaper so, good by me. Besides, Colin Edwards put pilot power 2cts on his MotoGP bike and was 8 sec slower over 5 laps during a Michelin marketing press conference. It's on YouTube somewhere if you don't belive me.

the gut that had my bike before me picked up a nail in the rear tire at 500 mls. it still has the factory bridgestone on the front and a michelin 2 ct on the back. I have put 1800 mls on it since then with no issues although I will definately go with 2 cts on both when they need changed.

i went with both 2ct, it was more about what was available than anything else. so glad to be off the BTs, even taking it easy on em brand new they were nicer. smooth and easier rolling and the 55 on the back makes the bike actually like turning.

i have pilot powers on front and rear.. i dont like mix matched tires.

I took my Power Pures on their maiden voyage today. I've heard a bunch of mixed reviews but after about 150 miles, I have no complaints.

With that said, I'll probably switch back to Pilot Power 2CTs after this set since I noticed no difference between the two models except for the price and the probability that they won't last as long. Then again, I haven't ridden with them too much yet so I may change my mind.
