i have a 97 gsxr 750 and when i start the bike it runs for about 7 seconds then floods out. what i noticed is that carbs 3 and 4 both seem to be getting a lot of fuel spraying out the carbs and it seems like the bike floods. also i noticed when i turn the key on and it primes gas comes out og the tube that goes to the air box between 3 and 4 while the stem at 1 and 2 is clear. i pulled the plug on the fuel pump and started the bike and there was no excess gas spitting out of and 3 and 4 and the bike ran way better. if you have any ideas of what could be causing this let me know.. if you need more info just ask:wtf

Sounds like your jets are mixed up? Like your primary and secondary jets are backwards. Have you ever mest with the carbs before, Have you had them synced lately?

What have you done to this bike and did the problem just start out of no where? Also, are you using the choke to start it?

i have never messed with the carbs and dont know much about them i got the bike because a guy could not pay his bill for some electrical work i had done for him so he gave me the bike as far as i know he had the bike for a year and a couple of months and never even tried to start it because he was working on another bike. when the fuel pump is not plugged in it rus good it idles at about 1000 rpms and it is responsive when i hit the throttle. but when i plug the fuel pump in it starts to die and floods out. i am really puzzled. this is my first bike and i dont know much about them. i do know cars pretty well and it has got me this far..

Floats on 3 & 4 are stuck open. On the bike they would be in the down position which would keep fuel flowing .
