: Front vs rear chicken strips

Hello all,

Looking for some guidance if possible, I have moved from a 98' ZX6R to an '02 GSXR Thou. I have been riding two and a half years, couple of track days, couple of IAM sessions. 90% of my riding is brisk road speeds.

The question is that on my ZX6 I had chicken strips on the front even though I was using the whole of the rear. On the GSXR I am very close to the edge on the fronts but still have half a CM on the rears. I am leaning a lot further than I ever did with the ZX (appreciate there is a lot of variables) but I'm worried about pushing further incase I lose the front, even though I clearly have plenty left on the rear!

Hope that makes sense, any comments/guidance/views would be welcome!

What's the size of the tyres?

Hi,

I have got the standard 120 70 and 190 55 sizes on it, Maxxi's Supermaxx.

On a side note, for anyone concerned about breaking from the top tyre suppliers to use Maxxi's - these tyres are incredible! Stacks of grip, huge stability, great tyre life. Not easy to warm up in damp conditions which can make it feel nervous until hot.

First track day on them in a couple of weeks so will post how they faired!

May have something to do with the 190/55 rear. Standard is 190/50. The 55% is a taller tyre which helps speed up tip in to corners. It also means you have a bit further to lean to get it out to the edge. The old trick was to replace the 190/50 with a 180/55 to speed things up in the cornering dept. Now you have the 190/55 option.
