: Can't Makeup My Mind bwt '04 Suzuki 600 and '03 Kawi 636
Ags#1 03-14-2004, 02:56 AM My previous bike was an '02 Gixxer 600, so I am extremely partial to the Gixxer. Has anyone here rode a 636 or race against one this past year. My dealer would give me a hell of a deal on an '03 model, but I know nothing about the bike. Please give me your opinions! Thanks!
stesta5074 03-14-2004, 10:13 AM The kawi is a great bike and so is the GIxxer. If your looking for goodies, they both have inverted forks and radial brakes, good midrange power, they will be exactly the same in anykind of race b/c speed is a function of your abilities, not the bike... If you can purchase the Kawi for more than 500 bucks cheaper, I'd go with that...
But dang that new blue 600 is P.I.M.P.
ballistic04_750 03-14-2004, 10:54 AM Kawi has slightly more torque, better brakes and quicker/lighter steering, but do I ever hate that LCD tacho. What were the designers thinking http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif?? If the deal is good on the 636 go for it!
G-FORCE 03-14-2004, 10:58 AM I have ridden both...and can honestly say if you had your eyes closed, it would be hard to tell the differences. The Kawasaki's transmission is a little clunky...but they are known for that. The only think the Kawi needs is a steering damper. Otherwise it is a badass bike. You will pay out the ass for an 04 gixxer, buy an 03 kawi and get virtually the same bike. I myself am a suzuki man to the bone so I will pay the extra $$$...oh wait, I sell them, I am gonna get a huge discount!!! Honestly, I think would be happy with the Kawi for the money you will save. And to give you an idea, we have one 636 left and have it on sale for 6999, might want to keep that in mind if you want to buy it. Stay firm on the price you want to pay and you will get it, be ready to walk out if they try to dick you, don't be affraid to walk out, because it won't be over. Be sure to give them your cell phone number, so that when they call you to let you know they will do the price you want, you won't have to drive all the way home to get the call http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif
G-FORCE 03-14-2004, 10:59 AM PM me with your tax rate and I will give you a $$$ figure to go in with that should get you the bike at a great deal that is realistic to the dealer, seeing as how they have probably had the bike for the better part of a year http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif.
JeffB 03-14-2004, 12:36 PM G-Force- How long have you been selling? I sell out here in San Diego. We sold out of '03's long ago. All of our 600's are that way.
On the 636 vs. Gix 6. Not having ridden the 04 Gix. I can' t comment on the power differences but the 636 was VERY competitive in the Superstock class last year against GSXR750's. It's tough to argue with 37 more cc's. I can't imagine the 04 GSXR600 having close to the same horsepower and torque.
ssteve 03-14-2004, 01:45 PM just wait and get the 04' gixxer 750.
southerndevil02 03-14-2004, 10:26 PM I just got the gixxer 600 and love it. Got a hell of a deal, including tires for life! only have 425 miles on it, bought it on the 5th. The break in period should only take me another week or so. Have not rode the kawi, bought gixxer on look and rep alone NO REGRETS!!!!!!
Ags#1 03-14-2004, 11:30 PM Thanks for the great replys. Southerndevil, please let us know what the bike can do after it is broke in.
TITANIUM-600-RR 03-15-2004, 07:06 PM Ags#1 what was the price they gave you on the 04 gsxr600 everything , what was the price on the kawasaki 636 , include all out the door minus tax because that varies ..thanks
Ags#1 03-15-2004, 11:25 PM We didn't talk about out-the-door prices, just the sticker prices. I could get the '03 636 for $7,100 or pay the MSRP for the new Gixxer at $8,000. It will be hard to talk them down any on the Gixxer because they are selling so fast.
southerndevil02 03-16-2004, 08:56 PM Every price is workable, I got 04 gix 600 for 7500, extras!
If salesman won't work with you f*** him go to manager
PrEtEnDeR 03-17-2004, 11:02 PM I ride with a 636. Well did till he killed it sat but thats a diff story. lol Anywho i rode it a few times and raced it a good amount with diff ppl driving it. I def would choose my 03 sixxer over it any day. And a 04 can only be better tho i hate the small feel of the 04 sixxer and 03 636 but thats just me. But if the 636 is much cheeper i would keep it open as a option. Nice bike with some sweet top end. Just depends what you like...
Never lost a race to that thing with or without any of my mods since the first times i rode and raced it my bike was fresh of the floor stock and so was it.. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
affirefighter 03-19-2004, 05:30 AM The gixxer is a marginally better bike, not as much midrange but better handles. I would say pick the bike you want. The prices are close, and you'll kick yourself if you get one that you don't like as much to save a grand.
