Hi Guys

I have beeen trying to sell my black 12,000 miles on the ODO Black GSXR 600. I am looking for about 5500, and in the meantime, I am considering buying my friends 2000 Honda RC51 14,000 miles in mint condition with minor upgrades for about 4900-5000 bucks or so.

Can anyone advise if this will be a good tradeoff or am I likely to regret it? I do some minor track riding, and will throw some 2CTs on the RC51 for good measure.

The prices im not so concerned about, but is buying a 10 year old bike a bad idea, even if its in good shape? Please help me out here im teetering and not positive. Thanks

Well, they're 2 completely different bikes. The RC is going to feel decently heavier and harder to flick around at the track than a gixxer 600. But it does have a decently strong feeling motor.

If you do have your heart set on the RC51 (I personally like them quite a bit myself), I would try to score a 2002 or later. They threw alot of updates into the SP2. The wheels alone are 1 lb lighter each, bigger throttle bodies and more power.

Agree with SPL - the RC51 was a great bike in its time and I'm personally partial to twins - but a 10 years old bike will show its age. Maybe not in regards to maintenance but it's 10 years old technology and chassis design. And yes, it is somewhat heavy.

if u cant have em both, keep newer bike.. rc51 great 2nd bike
