Well here i am, 6'4 165, been stuck here for about two years now.

My maintenance calories are about 3000 give or take. When i workout, i literally have to be home every 2 hours making myself something to eat if i dont take it with me. Thats just for when im lifting and need the extra energy. Not lifting i eat about 4 meals a day with food in between.

But i told myself i would gain 15 lbs this year, so im going the way of supplements, which is where my question comes in.

Does anyone have any experience with weight gainers? Any recommended over others? Is the GNC brand good enough, currently the powder i checked out supplied 1500 calories, 50g of protein, and a ton of other stuff in the drink. Help would be appreciated, thanks.

Making your own would be more benefical.. Less sugar/less fat usually..

A lot of people will just through some milk, whey, Natural Peanut butter, banana, and whatever in a blender and drink it..

If you have no time to do that, weight gainers are benefical to really skinny/ high metabolism people, but chance putting on more fat that way..

All you should really have to do is aim for 3500 calories for a few weeks, and then if you still dont add weight, try a little higher.. The wieght should come.

undereating and overtraining. Make eating a full time job, training a part time job. It's easy to fall prey to the common fallicy that dictates "if what you're doing isn't working, do more". In fact, less is nearly always more, especially for those with your somatype. Keep your gym time short, your routines to bare bones basic exercises, and the numbers of sets to a minimum. Start with 3 gym days in 8 days tops. If you can't get through your routine inside of 45 minutes it's too long, or you're doggin' it.
Up your caloric intake. When it gets to where all the planning, shopping, prepping, and eating becomes a real pain in the ass you'll know you're close. Get lots of rest and lay off other activity. Guys like you burn more calories sleeping than most folks do working out.

yeah my metabolism is on crack or something, i can go to bed on a full meal and wake up the next morning looking like i ate nothing.

In that sense, im not really concerned with gaining too much fat, at least with the workouts that im on. I know that i'll gain some fat, but seeing as how im around 7% right now i dont think its going to be a big deal. And going the way of the natural shakes, i would have to restock my house with food all the damn time, because a single huge shake would only hold me over for a couple hours at most, mixed with the most protein possible in there; because i know protein burns longer.

So are all weight gainers pretty much the same stuff with minor differences?

no caffiene is key. and so is no smoking. they just speed up your metabolism even more.. cut out as much sugar as you can also. try working out in the morning. when you work out late at night it keeps your basil metabolic rate slightly higher while your sleeping and you dont want that. you want your metabolism to slow down at night. take a protein shake just before you go to bed with 50grams of protein in it at a minimum. dont do serious cardio. do all heavy lifting with about 60-90 seconds between sets. take in about 5000-6000 calories a day broken down into about 6 meals.. that should get you started.

just as an example, i cut out caffiene completely (no soda or coffee) and i put on 7/8 lbs in a matter of months.

Restocking the fridge a lot is all part of the game my friend..haha.. thats what it takes, serisously. There isnt an easy way to really go about it. Eating, lifting, sleeping is all needed..

From what ive read not many bodybuilders recomend weight gainers at all, maybe a few do, but mostly everyone tells people to make there own. Far, far cheaper and better for you..

Cant really help you out on the weight gainers. Most bodybuilders on a forum im on dont recomend them.. Ive seen a few people say they take NLarge but just checked out some facts and there is 28grams of sugar plus the milk im sure you would mix it in will be kinda high.. But maybe somethng like that would work for you.

Also if the suggestion I gave would only last for like 2 hrs.. That is a good thing.. Eat some more or whip up another one.. That would be perfect...
