So what's a good price for a gixxer 600?

I've gone through kbb.com and it seems like EVERYTHING out there is way overpriced...saw an '07 listed for 6k on craigslist when the trade-in value for it is under 4k.

I don't really have the cash to buy from a dealership at this point. Are my expectations of finding one a few years old for 5k way off?

damn...that's a nice bike. Insurance is higher for a salvage though?

Depending on your state, salvage can be a PITA. But for sure, you can snag a good deal. You have to be very patient, and have cash in hand. And watch out for any "Too good to be true" deals on C/L Dont buy anything that some dipshit tells you that he will ship the bike to you...

I can wait until August but after that I'm heading back to school and don't have time to shop...so i've basically been lowballing the shit out of people on craigslist and hoping someone takes the offer.

btw..what company are you with for $33 a month wuzup?

Why are you basing price on trade in? You need to look at retail sell unless you are trading your bike. This is why you sell a bike instead of trading it in as you loose too much.

Kelley Blue Book Trade-In Value

Trade-in Value is what consumers can expect to receive from a dealer for a trade-in unit.

Kelley Blue Book Retail Value

The Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value is representative of dealers' asking prices for a used unit in excellent condition.

Anything I buy I ALWAYS look at the trade price. That should be your starting point on a private deal & go up from there, but not much. A private seller is not a dealer who can do things to sweeten the deal with the higher price, warranty, fresh repairs, deal on extras, etc. If you are paying anywhere near retail just go buy from the dealer so you have some recourse if you have problems.

Never heard of doing that before, you can't base a price for private party on what a dealership would give you for trade in on the same exact bike..that just makes no sense.

There is no way your going to find an 07 or 08 bike for under 4k unless it has tons and tons of miles on it or someone just needs a pay-off for loan..or salvage title if you really wanna deal with that..

I bought my 07 600 with 11k miles for 5grand back in July. Came with a laundry list of mods.

i did the same thing. had 4000 sitting in an acct til i found something i liked when i purchased my former gsxr6. It was worth the wait to pick it up in the winter months.
