: Gear shift Lever

Been looking for a blow up on the gear shift lever and not finding one. My question is what is holding it on. It must be a c-clip or a snap ring but not sure if there is a washer also. Noticed while riding today I missed 2nd gear ( went into neutral) twice. Took a closer look and noticed my lever was barely on there. So if someone gets a minute take a look at theirs... I'm sure I'll find one locally but not sure which type it is..... c or snap

thanks

I ride with boots too but that doesnt happen to me...... Unless the shifter is hanging off the post.

Guess I'm not a newb.

Yeh there's a C clip holding the lever to a bolt (if my memory serves me correctly), I'm at work now but pulled it apart a while ago

I thought so too but the groove is so marginal that a snap ring would make more sence. I swapped to a woodcraft set-up more than a year ago and now I cant remember. Since I dont feel like reaching down and shifting by hand, I better find one tomorrow.

Yes there is a C clip and a washer that holds it on.

Do a full clutch adjustment and make sure the shifter is adjusted so you can get a clean firm shift.

Thanks for the blow up pic. (#39 is a snap ring by the way) and not a c clip.....which makes more sence. Cool, thanks again

Already done this spring....didnt have a problem until the shift lever was falling off the post. thanks rraiderr

Someone is getting technical.

Mine as well add that you sound not re use a snap ring.

I'm Not trying to be an ass...its just that a snap ring and a c clip are two different things. Either way I found what I needed....thanks guys

They all technically are C-clips though. Or Circlips...... or Circular Clips.......

but common names help keep them separated in some peoples minds (like mine) :lol

Also not to be confused with the C ring.
