: Entrapment BULLSHIT Fleeing and Eluding
gixxerhoff750 06-16-2010, 12:19 AM I was just riding with my buddy and we where on a 2 way Highway. 1 lane each direction. After about 5 miles of a guy doing 45 in a 55 in front of us me leading I illegally passed the guy and started cruising 80. My friend followed me and we rode like that for about a mile. Then I see the lights in the mirror, cop (PIG) is still a ways back, not having done anything to merrit a impound or anything besides a ticket for that matter I start to slow down. Dont know if my friend even knew he was back there he passes me and keeps cruising!! Cop is then on my ass i signal over and he passes me and chases my friend. Pulls him over, I pull over also. (cop and friend are in front of me) not bailing out on my friend because i was the one leading. Cop starts screaming at me to get the fuck out of here. You better fucking leave. So I pull off, pull over at next safe place, and call his brother. Where his brother tells me he is under arrest for fleeing and eluding. THERE WAS NO FLEEING OR ELUDING!! I witnessed this!!! He even had a passenger they let go that says they didnt know a cop was behind them for the 1 mile he was in front of me!! What can we do??????
Two witnessess!!!
Asshole Sterotyping PIG Locked him up!! He is now gonna be the reason I run EVERYTIME from here on OUT!
My boy is now sitting in jail, when there was no criminal offense commited. Just speeding and a illegal pass. No joke about 5 miles before a asshole in a car that was in between the guy doing 45 and us passed him too!! and the cop which had to be behind us then too ( no turns on or off in that 5 miles) didnt stop him!!!
HELP!!@
SPL170db 06-16-2010, 01:21 AM Don't run from the cops and won't have this problem. You can SAY whatever you want to......it's what you do that matters. If you pull over and your pal takes off that certainlly LOOKS like flee'ing.
gixxerhoff750 06-16-2010, 06:29 AM Dude, NO ONE Fled anybody!! I have a second eye witnness (passenger) that says they had no idea a cop was behind them! Something has got to be done about asshole cops and there authorulity to ruin someones life because they feel like it.

Also forgot to mention before the PIG turned his lights off when he passed me. And tuned back on when my friend slowed down.
This road we where in is straight flat with fields next to us. We both could have and should have put hammer down and dusted the pig. Trying to do the right thing and trusting Leo was the mistake

Just because they didn't know that there was a cop behind them dosen't change the fact that there was indeed one behind them. Perhaps that may have been misconstrued as eluding.
Anthony D 06-16-2010, 07:37 AM maybe your friend should have been aware of his surroundings, and maybe looked in his mirrors?
and you say there was no crime committed, but you admit to speeding and passing illegally? can you say contradiction?
to the cop, you pulling over and your buddy not pulling over means your buddy is gonna run. i'm sure the cop has had enough sportbikers run from him to show that fact.
and i am only gonna say this once. if this turns into a cop-bashing thread, i will lock it and start banning people. cops are just doing their jobs, just like everyone else. don't get all pissy when you get caught doing something you know you shouldn't have been doing.
Crashing Sucks 06-16-2010, 08:45 AM Dont know if my friend even knew he was back there he passes me and keeps cruising!!
get a lawyer take your witnesses to court, if its as simple as you say it is you should be ok

BTW - NOTHING gives you (OP or anybody else) the right to run from the cops, regardless of how you think you have been treated in the past.
Running from the cops is one of the stupidest fucking things anybody can do and anybody that does doesnt deserve to own a bike.....or enjoy freedom.
GIX1000_07 06-16-2010, 09:19 AM How does the passanger know what your buddy did or didnt see in his mirror?
Why not bail on your friend? Didnt he bail on you? If he wasnt running then why didnt he stop with you to make sure you was ok?

i don't want to bash anyone, but some people are doing their job badly. I guess it's the same for some cops. They can not be all perfect.

That would be the stupidest thing you could have done. flat road means unlimited sight distance for the cop which means your odds are getting away are very very slim...you would most likely end up wrecking in a ditch. If your going to run at all you need to know the area like the back of your hand and you need to get out of sight distance first before you exit...not that i condone running from the cops though. :bitchslap

I know right. Im sure the judge will totally let the OP off the hook for going 25mph over the speed limit since the real asshat was the guy goin 10mph under the speed limit. :rolleyes
Suzuki Duke 06-16-2010, 11:52 AM Main Entry: en·trap·ment
Pronunciation: \-mənt\
Function: noun
Date: 1597
1 a : the action or process of entrapping (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/entrapping) b : the condition of being entrapped (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/entrapped)
2 : the action of luring an individual into committing a crime in order to prosecute the person for it
I don't see the entrapment there :scratch
Moto_Joe 06-16-2010, 12:33 PM You know who you have to thank for this? Not the cop.
All the OTHER asshats on the road (like yourself) who run for a simple speeding ticket.
You dont want to get harassed? Dont speed, and dont make illegal passes, then you dont have to worry about getting pulled over, or risking them thinking you are running. It is the world we live in now when it comes to sportbikes
congratulations street riders. You did it to yourselves

This, exactly.
Gixxer Kat 06-16-2010, 01:13 PM This, exactly.
Cant agree more we all are guilty in one way or another. And we all did this to ourselves n this is the reality we must live with. I mea n shit last night i crashed after some girl made a left in front of me! i cant even ride for a few weeks let alone till i fix my bike, but what do we do :cheers:cheers:cheers n call it a night.
Darkshadow62988 06-16-2010, 05:39 PM He should be able to get this all lowered if not dropped with a decent lawyer. Oh no, 80mph on a bike that can go almost if not more than twice that. Yea, that's really fleeing.
project84 06-16-2010, 10:15 PM by your own admission, you illegally passed a car, then continued down the road at a speed well above the speed limit. Now you want to blame everyone else on the road for your f**k up because your got yourselves into more than you can handle. You and your friend need to grow up and accept responsibility for YOUR OWN ACTIONS. If you can't afford to break the law, then DON"T.
SPL170db 06-16-2010, 10:21 PM Judge: OK, who are your 2 witnesses to this series of events?

Exactly my point!! 80 in 55 isnt running.Especially on a ZX10 Now hes out, heard his side wheter he knew or not, and he saw the cop coming after I dropped back. He actually pulled over to wait for me thinking I got pulled over.As soon as he got his helmet off the cop pulled over and flipped his lights on, pulled his gun out, and roughed my boy up a little.
Yes we where illegally speeding, and illegally passed someone, my point is thats not a FELONY fleeing and eluding. It is a traffic infraction, not a criminal offense.
Spoke to lawyer before seeing police report and talking to defendant, he said easy dismisal. Now after seeing report he lied so much in it, claiming he had his lights on the whole time etc, it doesnt have the sligtest chance of making it to court. We are also requesting his dash camera video to prove the lights where flipped on and off as well as there being no where to stop do to concrete walls.
State has already released the seize on the bike, and dropped the resisting w/o violence. Looks like all that is going to stick is careless driving, and passing in non passing zone.
Now if the cop gets some kind of disipline for this we will have justice. And for anybody saying he was just doing his job, I agree, however his conduct in this case and the fact he didnt even leave the scene before calling all his pig buddies and bragging that he got a sportbike is enough to convince me he is the stereotyping, powertripping cop we all fear when riding.
Goodnight all

I can afford the ticket thats exactly why I tried to pullover. For the last time there was no Fleeing(Criminal). Only traffic infractions that would merrit a ticket NOT JAIL.
If and when we speed, well I'll speak for myself here, I know I'm risking a ticket and make sure I'm prepared for it. If you ride a sportbike on the street you speed. Lets not BS ourselves here. In 8 years riding I've never run from the cops. Yes I DO SPEED, shit everywhere, even in my truck, but I dont lane split, I dont ride wheelies anymore, and even when I am going way faster then I should be which is more and more rare these days, conditions are safe, and I respect the others on the road and never pass anyone so fast that I could scare the crap out of them and cause them to run themselves off the rode. Almost was that guy once so I ALWAYS slow down when about to pass when hauling ass.
So if you want to bash me bash away but do so for good reason.
I'm just blessed to almost be in the position to afford trackdays like you some of you guys. Then Life will be really sweet.
God Bless

Be carefull with that. I know you were half kidding, just sayin'. Some places it is illegal to video cops without telling them you are doing so. I dont think they can make you turn it off, but you cant do it without notifying either. Some places that goes for individuals as well if there is audio etc.

Great to hear!! The in dash camera will answer a lot of questions and If the cop is crooked and on a trip..muthafuk him a,he'll get his soon enough!!
I got pulled over years ago for doing 72 in a 65 in my very high performance german car.I asked the officer kindly to please excuse me and give me a pass. After going back and forth several times..he got very agitated and tried to open my passenger side door, which was locked.Mind you this was around 2am on the freeway on a sunday night.I asked him not to do that and if I was free to go? He looked like he was about to reach for his weapon..I put the hammer down and was doing well over 160 at one point.I did not even see his light in the rear view.Exited and disappeared into the city..Needless to say I got the fuk away lmao>Tha fuker mus have given up when he did not see my lights as I was blacked out!!muthfuck crooked cops on a powertrip :bitchslap
MotoMummy 06-17-2010, 08:16 PM just so most know there is a vast difference between misdemeanor evasion and felony evasion. You may not have thought he fled, but he most likely met all the elements of a misdemeanor evasion. Evasion is not just evasion. There are different types and each has it's own elements of the crime that must be met.
often misdemeanor evasion just requires that a reasonable person would have seen the cop, not that you did.

Speak fucking english. If what you just said was true, then if the cop did have you pulled over already in your VW Thing then he already had your license plate number there genius. So what would be the point of "putting the hammer down"?

ok - I get that the OP was warned and everything. I also get that the general trend is to tolerate all forms of free speech including some very colorful personalities :)

I would be more inclined support moderation and respect for all members/professions, but this apparent hypocrisy smells a little bit funny

Basically bashing ALL cops based on the actions of a few, or a perception you have is bigotry. We try to squash any bigotry that goes behind crass jokes. We have many many police officer members. If we get complaints of serious racism, it is squashed. whatever. Case by case basis.
Not to mention, the nature of a sportbike site is such that FTP attitudes run rampant if left unchecked. We try to keep the FTP attitudes, as well as the mentality that the roads are your playground in check as well. Neither is good for the community, or us as fellow riders in the eyes of the general public
I just banned a guy the other day for bashing on the military.
Furthermore, you seem to have a SERIOUS distaste for our rules. If you dont like our rules, or how we enforce them, get the fuck out. I dont care :thumbup. This is twice in one week or so that you have "bucked" our rules.
Follow them, shut the fuck up, or leave. We are NOT going to change them no matter how loud you squeak :thumbup
tblade 06-20-2010, 08:13 AM so is prejudging all sport bike riders based on the actions of a few.
I'm very safe/conservative on the street, and in 20+ yrs of driving & riding I have no accidents or violations and 1 parking ticket. I still get followed now and then when riding because of the 'sport bike' syndrome
Whether you believe or not, I really dont have a distaste for rules, and am expressing an opinion on a public forum... and if one or more police officers complained, I have no issues squashing the post/thread/etc
I didn't ask for any rules to be changed, and if using profanity and the use of condescending language makes you feel any better, my sympathies.
Moto_Joe 06-20-2010, 08:23 AM I cant control the actions of a few cops. I can control what is allowed on our forum though.
Some cops are going to pre-judge sport bike riders. Thank the asshats who where idiots and left a bad taste in their mouths for us. If ya dont like it, choose not to ride on the street. That is what I did :thumbup
On the flip side, if you want to pre judge all police officers, that is your prerogative, but if it is....... this is not the forum for you to express it. Period. If ya dont like it, leave.
The power to change both scenarios is in YOUR hands, it just may not be the "battle" you wish to fight, but rather, leaving the situation. Sometimes you have to know when to hold em' and know when to fold em'
Trust me, in BOTH situations, you are best to "fold em' " You will not "win"
The funny thing about an "open forum" as people like to throw out when it suits them....... and complain about when the opinion goes against them though. ... is it still has rules. Those rules are set and enforced by us.
Wanna cry "freedom of speech" maybe? Wont be the first time I heard that either. Think of it this way, this is our house, if we dont want you speaking a certain way, we can throw you out. Also, this forum is based out of Canada, so the American laws are moot anyway :D.
Save your sympathies for someone who cares for them :cheers.
dev1360 06-21-2010, 03:46 AM I'll chime in.
Sportbike riders have done it to themselves. My buddy called me the other night and said he was at a kid's house and they were going to go for a ride, asked if I wanted to come. Sure, so I met up with them and they said we were going to meet a few other guys and go for a ride. Awesome, I like riding in groups, meeting new people etc.
So we show up to where these other guys were, all in their mid 20's (I'm 21), all on BRAND NEW bikes, k9 1k, 10' zx6, k9 600. Well, they were all in tee shirts and shorts with gloves. I showed up in my suit with the "shredded tires, bro" and suddenly they were all know-it-all Valentino Rossi's, who all wanted to go to the track but just "haven't made it out there, but they all do it on exit ramps" None of them knew I was a cop, I just stayed quiet because I already knew how it was going to be.
Well, we got to riding, immediately, weaving through traffic, no signaling, 30+ over the speed limit, stand up wheelies through traffic on the highway and roll racing. I just waved bye and went home.
Unfortunately, these people are the people that are the norm for my age group, and the target age group for sport bikes. They are also the same people that wreck doing wheelies, hit someone at 160mph, change lanes without signaling and hitting someone, or getting hit, running from the cops because they can't afford a ticket, don't have insurance (very common, it is hard to wear abercrombie and ed hardy AND make your 12k bike payments) or don't even have a fucking motorcycle license. And inevitably, when they wreck, if they do have insurance, they turn it in and my rates go sky high because of their stupidity and the bike is totaled and they get another new one, the cycle continues until they die or get seriously hurt. Then, the same cops that they bash and run from get to wipe their stupid asses off of the asphalt and calm them down while they are screaming from pain, shock and fear, or just close off traffic and cover up the pieces that are left until the fire department/EMS get there to cover up the body until the State Police finish their death investigation. (speaking from experience)
It is completely sad.
I hate the fact that anyone who finds out what I ride instantly stereotype me into the punk kid on a CROTCH ROCKET category, because of stupid people.
The same can be said about police. We are held to a higher standard, and we should be. But there are stupid assholes in every profession and not all of them can be weeded out.
If you hate cops, that's fine. But don't hate them because you are convinced they hate sportbikers. Sport Bike riders did it to themselves.
blacknight07607 06-23-2010, 12:30 PM Ok, maybe it's me but this is what I'm getting
Yeah, he was speeding and improper passing.
But I think the main problem here is the fact that he was accused of eluding.
Now, maybe it's me but if I was trying to elude (get away from) the police I would be going a hell of a lot faster and zipping between cars....basically trying to get away.
cruising at a steady speed of 80mph for over a mile does not constitute as eluding or evading. Especially if there is no persuit
If the cop doesn't have his lights on, he is NOT in persuit
the only thing I see them being guilty of is speeding, (80 in a 55) and illegal passing.
But to the OP (gixxerhoff750)
There is no reason, ABSOLUTELY NO REASON to run from a cop.
It will only end bad for you
Do NOT use this isolated incident as an excuse to run from all cops
As difficult as it may seem, just brush it off and move on
Good Luck
dev1360 06-23-2010, 01:38 PM 80 mph is nothing on a modern sportbike. It isn't much in a Crown Vic, but when normal cager shitheads run, you would be surprised. Speeds rarely get over 100 mph. They will cruise at 80-90 mph a lot.
Normal cops don't usually ride sportbikes, or know of their capabilites. They know they are fast, but not how fast. IF the OP is being completely truthful, it seems a little excessive of a charge. IIRC did I see a "resisting charge" in one of the OP's posts? Sounds like there is more to the story.
bro-man 06-23-2010, 05:24 PM Basically bashing ALL cops based on the actions of a few, or a perception you have is bigotry.
:wtfI haven't been around for a while..Wow has this place changed..:ohmy
Nice attitude you've developed over the years..:shifty.
As a black man I have more than my share of shitty cop stories.
Can't believe I could be banned for talking about a power tripping cop..
Are security guards off limits as well..
How about meter maids..
Gimme a fucking break..:bitchslap
That goes double for you SVS..for actually banning the guy..:dissapointed
Moto_Joe 06-23-2010, 05:34 PM If you are talking about one bad cop, who does something dumb, you probably will be fine. But the "all cops are pigs" type of shit we dont tolerate.
As I have said, if we left it unchecked, it would get WAY out of control with mob mentality, and it is not what we want on this site.
As to what you felt compelled to highlight of my quote, my sentiment stands the same. If you dont like the rules here, follow them, or find another website to hang out on. For him the "get the fuck out" was because it wsa not the first time.
It is really no skin off my back if someone doesnt like how the place is run. For every one who doesnt, plenty love how we run the place. The site is not for everyone. That is the nature of most any forum. You cant please everyone.
cjr9968 06-23-2010, 05:41 PM My first impression is that the cop's judgement is off. Pretty sure he had the right to tell you to leave especially if you stopped behind him where he couldn't see you both at the same time.
A lot depends on what happened between your friend and the cop. Two examples from my own experience:
1) Got pulled over for going 102 in a 65...bad idea...got asked to step out. I didn't argue, told the cop everything he wanted to know, took a breathalizer (turned out negative), told him I had waaayy too much coffee. He told me he could arrest me (30+ over the limit is driving to endager) but he let me go. A month later my court date was dismissed. No ticket, nothing. (Had my gf and dog in the car)
2) Got pulled over for going 74 in a 65, argued with the cop. Told him he must have hit someone else with his radar. (had 3 friends in the car). Got a $500 ticket. Max allowed.
Moral of the story: don't argue, don't run. Take it to court if you want but save it for the judge.
**edit** this was in a car, not on a bike tho
Reckless15 07-26-2010, 09:12 AM I was driving home from work today and seen a cop comming up behind me.
This road has 4 lanes(2 each way) and I was on the rightlane and he was coming to pass me on the left lane. Im from canada so our speeds are in km/h
It's a 50 zone, Im doing 49-51 and he is coming up on me fast so when he gets to my side i gradually speed up just to see how fast he is actually going(I only did this because this is the 4th time in the last week have I been passed by cops speeding here)
we were both doing 82km/hr and I got beside him and honked, he looked at me I pointed down at my speedo and shook my head and did this :nono to him and slowed down...he persisted to go at same rate of speed.:scratch
wuzup76020 07-26-2010, 10:06 AM I dont mind the cops at all. Their doing their job. Granted some are not very good at it some times but treat them with respect and it goes ALONG way. As for the speeding cop ^. I dont mind it at all. :lol
Just last week i was cruising on a big sweeper(the 100mph type if you tried) that was an overpass for a highway. I was being tailgated and i mean tailgated by a cop. doing about 65...so i speed up...he follows just as close. i go faster..by the end of the sweeper im at about 85~90 as he continues to follow. highway opens up into four lanes. he switches lanes as i slow down now. As he passes he give me the :thumbup and continues a few miles down to a pretty bad wreck...It was fun though. but Cops are normal people too :cheers
Reckless15 07-26-2010, 10:30 AM hahaha Yea, I understand that everyone speeds a bit at times here and there. I just get a kick out of it sometimes also.
I often think to myself if all the speed limits were to Double wouldn people still go that 7-12 km/h over the posted limit, that seems to be the norm everywhere haha.
SPL170db 07-26-2010, 10:46 AM I'll chime in.
