: Identify Connectors - Injectors and Coils

I'll start out that I don't own a Suzuki. But I like them :burnout

I own a 2007 Aprilia RSV 1000 v-twin. BUT...It has a Rotrex supercharger. And even though I have been able to make pretty good horsepower, there were too many electronic boxes to deal with.

So I found a company that makes a Plug and Play Microsquirt-based ecu for 05-06 GSXR1000 with all the features I want in a single box. Check it out at
http://interfacepnp.webs.com/

I figured that all modern fuel injected bikes have about the same engine sensor components, so I have purchased a 05-06 GSXR 1000 wiring harness and components. It lays out pretty good for the Aprilia engine, and I identified all the connectors except for the fuel injectors. I will only need (2) sets of fuel and ignition connectors, and the others will be unused.

I nneed to identify which cylinders the connectors are for. There is one long section of the harness that branches off the main harness with (4) sets of injector connections and (4) plug on coil connections on the end. The far end of the harness plug on coil connector is labeled for cylinder '1'. Which cylinder# injector connectors are closest to the throttle position sensor (tps) connector?

I am thinking that it must be cylinder #4 that has the injector connectors and coil on plug connectors on either side of the tps connector.
Like this:

Injectors connectors 1-2-3-4 -tps connector- 4-3-2-1 coil connectors.

That would require the end of the harness to wrap back upon itself (180 degree u-turn) at the tps in order to connect the coils. Is this correct?

Thanks.

I'm having a bit of trouble fully understanding just what you're after. There's a color wiring diagram on scribd (http://www.scribd.com/doc/11804325/GSXR1000-2005-K5-Wiring-Diagram) which will make it easy to identify what the various connectors are for. As you sit on the bike the #1 cylinder is on the left.

That does seem right, IIRC. I was in there a month ago, but I can't get to my bike right now.

You need to post a link to the Ape.

The wiring diagram is not a layout diagram. Example: The wiring diagram in scribd does not show the injector connectors on the same physical leg as the coils. The coils are on the top of the diagram, and the injectors are on the bottom of the diagram.

So I am asking what is the physical layout of injectors and coils on that section of the wiring harness. Maybe you could answer this:

1) Does the main wiring harness go down the left side of the frame? If so, and cylinder #1 is on the left, then the first injector connector should be #1

2) Is the green TPS connector on the right side of the engine? If so, then the coil section of the harness right after the tps connector makes a U-turn and attaches to the coils 4-3-2-1 going right to left.

Not a particularly difficult question, if you have access to look at a harness or know what I am asking.

Thanks,

There's some information in the service manual. 10-18 shows a wiring harness routing diagram but it may be difficult for you to understand without a bike in front of you. There are some pics in chapter 5 that may also help.

The main harness does run down the left side of the frame. The leads for the injectors, coils, and other stuff branches off and crosses to the right as individual leads branch off of it. The green connector is for an intake air sensor, at least on mine (beware of connector colors, they're not always the same). It is on the right side of the bike/airbox. After that the harness makes a U-turn to cross the top of the head for the coil connections and lastly the camshaft position sensor, which is back on the left side. I'm fairly sure that this is done so that the coil leads stay clear of the throttle cable mechanism.

You are making this much more complicated than it needs to be. All of your questions could have been answered by looking at the schematic and the wire colors.

You want to know what side the TPS is on then all you need to do is look and see what color wire does the coil connector closest to the TPS have. If it is White/Blue stripe then its coil 1 and the TPS is on the left side of the engine. If it is Green the it is coil 4 and the TPS is on the right.

Damn if you ain't right. Doh! :hammer

I think it's even worse than that.
Why not run all the stock stuff then a secondary controller for injectors. Not wire a
aprilla with a gsxr harness.
