One of my close friends passed away last night after suffering severe head trauma from a bike accident.
The accident occurred on Tuesday, May 25th at approximately 4:30am according to state police. He hit a dear head on at an unknown speed on the highway WEARING his helmet.
The reason why he was riding his bike so early in the morning is because he wanted to get out early from work so we could go to the beach since it was going to be 90F and sunny. Unfortunately riding at that time of day got the best of him and wasnt so lucky.
He was med flighted to Mass General Hospital in Boston Mass. One of the best hospitals in the country. At first the doctors already thought he was a goner since his brain was swelling and had too much pressure on the side of his head. He was put into an induced coma.
Later on we heard so somewhat good news from the doctor saying that he may be able to pull through but will be a long recovery. The pressure on his head was much lower then when he first got into the accident. This was fixed by removing part of the brain.
48hrs later they did some more testing and finally concluded that he was brain dead and there was a possibility of him still living but would have tubes down him for the rest of his life. His parents I believe made the best decision and eventually decided to pull the plug where he peacefully passed away with his family and girlfriend in his arms.
He was a great kid and a close friend of mine with a loving and beautiful girlfriend....
RIP Jon Simeone......:sad
