: I need ideas for a GOOD tasting whey protein powder
As you may have seen in my other posts, I used to use whey protein powder but couldn't stomach the taste any more. I used Optimum Nutrition and went through the vanilla, the strawberry and even mixed the two a couple times. I never tried the chocolate, but that doesn't sound that bad right now. That was a few years ago and I may be up for trying protein powder again. I need something that tastes good and doesn't have too funky of an after taste. Also, the cheaper the better as I don't want to break the bank for something as basic as protein powder. I'm using bars right now and they are convenient but expensive.
So, who uses what and what do you recommend?

I use Iso-Pure Low Carb Choclate. It is really good, well i guess as good as it can get. Its really good with 12oz of skim milk. Iso-Pure also makes Zero-Carb protien but not for the choclate flavor. Or not that I could find anywhere.
What did you mix it with? If you didn't try it with Skim milk, esp if your looking to gain mass, you will get some extra Cal's. I only get Chocoloate, I find that the others taste like poo (could be just me tho) Also try adding some Fruit or something to the Shake, say maybe like 1 strawberry or something, if you really can't stomach it.
Yeah, I was mixing it with skim milk. I got so sick of both that I even cut my milk drinking back quite a bit.

I wanted to get some but the shipping to canada is crazy money. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif
871 servings for $130.
Actually what are everyones oppinions on this stuff? Besides its taste. I always thought protein was protein.
You could probably mix this stuff with anything. And if it dosnt mix well then just mix it with as small amount of liquid as possible and chug it. The discomfort will only lasts a few seconds. I actually scoop my creatine and L-Glutimine into my mouth then wash it down with some juice. (the creatine cause it dosnt desolve and the L glutimine cause it has an aftertaste and I can taste it in my protein.)
Oh and you dont have to get 50lbs. Its just a better "Value".
I use Optimum Nutritions chocolate whey. Only thing ive used.. I personally love the stuff.. Great company, great product, great taste... In my opinion at least...
olly
I like EAS simply protein its like 30 bills shipped for 5lbs Vanilla only. Also I am sure you are aware that egg whites are a good cheap source of protein, just gets old cracking eggs. I love them with a little hot sauce.
Sun Burn 03-08-2004, 11:26 PM I use ON Whey. It's 29 bux for 5 pounds. I drink strawberry with skim milk while I'm at work and after my workouts I drink chocolate with skim milk and I throw in 2 tablespoons of peanut butter for an extra 8 grams of protein. It's also a good treat because it tastes kind of like a snickers bar. EAS Simply protein is also pretty good.
PHISH 03-09-2004, 12:44 AM I use the ISO-PRO products too. Only Chocolate. If I am at home I will put 1/2 a bananna, or some strawberries in the blender but I usually just make a shake with water or milk and I love it. Try they iso-pro products.
Here is a hint. Don't stir your shakes with a spoon... Get a cup with a lid on it and shake the shit out of it http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/punk.gif
Sun Burn 03-09-2004, 12:51 AM I bought one of those hand blender wands to mix mine. It was only 10 bucks and it will chop up fruits and peanut butter.
hayez 03-09-2004, 04:16 AM i use on 100%whey chocolate...taste real good and cheap

Have some deals, and a LARGE selection of protein.... Haven't tried it yet as far as taste though. You can get different blends, choose your sweetener etc... I don't know what you mean by can't "stomach" protein, but you can buy different isolates, and hydrolyzed proteins that are more easily digestable.
Sparxx 03-10-2004, 05:19 AM Personally I like the Met-RX protein shakes I get from my gym. I CANNOT stand GNC's brand of whey protein. No matter how you mix it or what you mix it with it tastes like dirt! Since my nephew also works for GNC I get alot of supplements free or at a VERY reduced price.
Spidey 03-10-2004, 05:45 AM Pro-Score 100 Chocolate Whey Protein with Glutimine. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/yumyum.gif
I saw last night when I was digging around that Optimum Nutrition has a mint/chocolate flavor! This sounds yummy to me. Anyone tried this yet before I buy a ten pound bag?
Ricerockt 03-10-2004, 07:17 AM ON's 100% Chocolate Whey is great! The vanilla is ok.
bmfgsxr 03-10-2004, 07:25 AM i use designer whey protein.. chocolate.. it taste so good you would think its regular chocolate milk.. at least i do.. i mix it with non fat milk.

Yup those are good!
MIKEGSXR 03-10-2004, 11:50 AM I take nitro-tech strawberry. not the best tasting if just shaken, so i put two scoops in a blender with a little water (less water if you want it thick like a shake) ice, tablespoon of peanut butter, and two bananas. tastes good that way to me.
during the day i eat two nitro-tech bars then the shake after my work out.

I was using Designer Whey's French Vanilla protein powder but recently switched b/c I literally gagged everytime I drank it, with water OR milk.
So I gave Optimum Nutrition's 100% Whey Chocolate flavor (not the Natural) a try and it's sooo much better I don't know how I tolerated the Designer Whey for so long.
Trust me bro, give ON a try if you're not sure what to get. It's a good starting point b/c it's one of the cheaper protein powders out there and there's like 23g per scoop which is a lot compared to Designer Whey's 18g per scoop.
I haven't tried Designer Whey's Chocolate protein powder though, so I can't vouch for it.
Hope this helps http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
