: What are you doing for meals.
I just started figuring out a diet for myself as many of you know by the 'egg' thread that I started. I now eat 6 egg whites for breakfast with the occasional whole wheat toast or 1/2 cup of oatmeal. I need to have some ideas for other meals. I do have time to eat 5 meals a day, so I can break them down too which is a bonus. I also do protein bars after the gym and started Cell-Tech creatin today as well. I am doing a loading phase but not like the container suggests. I'm doing about half the recommended amount for the loading phase as well as for the maintaining phase. I'm 6' and just shy of 250lbs and am concentrating on my sixth week of weight lifting right now and will begin cardio in the mornings in the next month or two.
GdSaXnR 03-08-2004, 06:06 AM Get some whey powder. Grilled Chicken breasts are easy. I like to eat peanut butter on bagels and such. (not good for dieting) I eat a lot of cottage cheese, although you said you don't like it. Although I don't eat it much, tuna is a good source of protein. As far as carbs go rice, oatmeal, whole wheat bread, that kind of thing. You are just paying for the name when you buy cell-tech. There are much cheaper alternatives out there. Protein supplements would probably be a bigger priority then creatine also. Try to make sure you have some simple/moderate carbs along with a good source of protein (shake) right after you work out, then try to have a meal in the next 1-2 hours. Just remember supplements are just that, they supplement FOOD. Food is the best thing for you. If you aren't dieting, I wouldn't be too worried about fats and such. It is never good to eat a ton of saturated fats, but I wouldn't cry about it either. Oils are usually the best way to get your fat intake, although I don't keep much track of my fat intake. SicShift may know more about this stuff, but this seems to be working for me fairly well.
GixieChick 03-08-2004, 06:20 AM Well, before I got this flu bug, I was eating like this:
Breakfast: 1 cup - Natural cereal with skim milk & a cup of OJ
AM Snack - yogurt & piece of fruit
Lunch - salad w/ l-f dressing, cottage cheese, piece of fruit
PM Snack - Carrot sticks
Dinner - Grilled chicken/tuna fish with veggies and rice and another salad
But i'm also a female, and i'm interested in simply weight loss and then maintainance, not gain etc. The guys will tell you for my sort of deal, high protein, low carbs, low fat, low sodium http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
GixieChick 03-08-2004, 06:21 AM And stay away from fatty meats... fried, etc! http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
gsxr_paul 03-08-2004, 06:56 AM Currently this is my average daily meals:
Breakfast: 5-6 Egg whites, oatmeal and water. Occasionally will have some healthy type cereal.
10:00AM: Myoplex shake
Lunch: Chicken Breast and some steamed veggies and sometimes fruit. or Couple of tuna fish sandwhiches on wheat
3:30-4:00: Myoplex shake
Dinner: Steak or Chicken, Steamed veggies, rice or baked potato
after workout: More chicken
Sun Burn 03-08-2004, 06:58 AM I would try to take whey shakes after your meals instead of bars. I have found that most bars have a lot more calories and sugars than shakes but I guess it depends on your goals. I'm trying to be very lean so I don't want any simple carbs or sugars and in my opinion the bars just aren't going to help me with that. The last bar I ate was around 350 calories compared to the shakes I make that are 110 calories in the whey powder plus the 45 calories in a half cup of skim milk.
Just a quick note on the whey.... I can't do it. A couple years ago I would go through the huge bags like it was water. So now, I can't stomach protein shakes and that is the reason I'm on bars now. I also drink about a gallon and a half to two gallons of water each day. I know about chicken breasts as that is also what I eat, there has got to be more stuff to eat too.
What are in the Myoplex shakes? Is it a protein shake or a meal replacement shake or both?

oldgixxer 03-08-2004, 08:01 AM Not really.I eat for nutritional value only when I diet.I could care less about flavor or having the same meal over and over.
Because I know when I'm ripped at 5% BF it's all worth it and everybody's pointing and saying look at oldgixxer http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

SicShift 03-08-2004, 08:35 AM Well, I'm not preparing to compete like OG, but I am trying to change my image rather drastically in the next 3 months so I'm eating pretty strict but not as much as some. Here's a sample and probably the most common meals I eat.
Meal 1 - egg whites and oatmeal or english muffin, egg whites, slice of ham and onion.
meal 2 and 3 - chicken, brown rice, broccoli, red peppers, sugarsnap peas and onions. Subsitute rice with yams a lot. love em and they're more nutritionally dense than potatos.
meal 4 extra lean turkey meat with a little taco seasoning, fake salt, lettuce, tomato, onions and a corn tortilla with a little light sour cream, 1 cup of veggies.
meal 5 and 6- chicken, brown rice, mixed veggies like 2 and 3.
meal 6 more chicken and more veggies or sometimes a spinach leaf salad with a nf dressing and red onions.

Meal 3:
Chicken Breast and 1 cup rice and Brocoli (or other Veggies's)

I started this awhile back, after getting some advice from Old Gix. Been seeing some good results, and my weight loss hasn't really slowed down, still loosing about 2-3 lbs per week.

fucking hell - dont fancy that much
Mine, an endurance running orintated diet :
breakfast :muesli - pure orange juice.
lunch - tuna salad roll.
Afternoon snacks - 2 / 3 peices of fruit (orange/bannana)
After training meal: something carb heavy - pasta , potatoe, or rice based meal as much as I can possibly put down, I also try to eat a lot of fresh fish - plaice, sea bass etc..
In the week Before a race I will often replace the lunchtime salad roll with a pasta meal to. In an attempt to carb load.
I drink water throught the day interspersed with the odd cup of tea - up until about 9pm when I switch to beer http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/banana.gif Actually Im down to two/three nights drinking a week now
and plan to go teetotal for three weeks very soon. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif
