My 1997 Celica's engine tics, and the sound comes from the block cover, after valve adjustment, car's smooooth as new. I'm wondering if it's the same with bikes.

I just purchased a Suzuki GSXR600. The previous owner claimed that the valves have been adjust. Is there a way to check? By listening to it? Or do I still have to take entire thing out might as well readjust them to make sure?
