Probably old news, but it the UK, TWO Wheels magazine have done a very good 600 shootout of all the 600's..

To sum up
1. The GSXR is fractionally the best handling, narrowly beating the CBR
2. The GSXR has the fastest 1/4 mile time
3. The GSXR was the fastest to hit 150MPH
3. The GSXR has the highest top speed.

Around the spanish track they chose, the GSXR recorded the fastest lap time, a combination of its excellent ZX6R style midrange, and its excellent smooth handling, it may not quite have felt as hard edged as the CBR, or as twitchy as the ZX6, it just felt 'good'. "This is the most planted and surefooted bike here"
2. The bike is a true GSXR, it has captured that essence tha makes a gixxer a gixxer, the induction roar/engine noise was addictive, and you felt that you needed to thrash it everywhere, as the rewarding noise/ambience/performance is just the best combination compared to its rivals..

As for power, etc, a surprise, but it was down 5 HP on the CBR, ZX6 etc, but due to excellent midrange/gearing, it recorded the fastest 1/4 mile, and excelled on the track... it seems the others have sacrificed midrange or top end, (Except the kawacker of course , 636)..

all in all, they loved it, putting it marginally ahead of the 'still' sanitised Honda.. that's a good result for Suzuki..

something tells me that perhaps their bike was down on power, since it was making the same as a K3 approximately, and as we know, Suzuki are claiming more power.. although the ramair is more efficient, so perhaps, with ramair, the new bike has plenty????

They hated the R6, the front tyre is the wrong profile?, this made it 'fall' into turns, which kept catching them out, and it had no midrange... They did say changing the front tyre to the same as the others did wonders for it, but no escaping the lack of midrange, and in the present company, that was enough for it to get a slating..

Sorry but I don't believe this crap. I saw the Aaron Yates and Ben spies got their asses handed to them in Daytona. Yates was even beaten by a privateer on a Yami. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/plthumbsdown.gif
Anytime Yates got a lead with his zook 600 going through the turns, the yamis and kawis would reel him in on the straights and smoke him . . The announcers commented on the lack of acceleration and torque compared to the other sixxers. .

hey hammerdown, maybe coz those race 600 bikes havent got much in common with the road bike versions,,

also dont forget that the other 600s have been around forever and have been setup right whereas the gixxer is still fresh out of the crate and all new,, therefore needing new information and setup at each race it goes to..

wheres the optimism mate..

I understand that Rep, but how can you justify a factory Suzuki guy losing to a privateer Yami ,. .. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/nono.gif http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/flipa.gif

Do you realize how many valves, heads, cam and other engine parts the other manufactures went through to get those bikes at the spec they are now. And Suzuki being a new bike they haven't had the time or the parts to get each individual part that is perfect to the spec they found to produce the most HP. I'm not saying they machine parts I mean they search through say ten cyclinder heads and see which one flows the best and so on.
