hey guys just got my K9 600 as some of you know and was wondering if there is a break in period for the bike that i should go before i really get on it? other than that loving the bike thanks for the hlep

The manual says to stay under 7.5k rpm for the first 800km, but that site says to just giver? I'm curious about this topic as well since I just got a new bike but I hate when the information out there contradict each other... so confusing =/ I was told if I follow the manual I'd be ok?

yes if you follow the manual you will be ok. just do exactly what it says for break in. people will sometimes tell you different but u cant go wrong using the manual.

manual is always right...thats why they made it.
I did the simple keep it below 10K until i got 1000 miles on it.

Do a site search for break in procedures...you'll get mixed reviews. Some say break it in 'hard', some say listen to the manual. Personally I go hard on all my new toys. My neighbor/pal, however, ABSOLUTLY disagrees with me and my way of break in.

Funny thing is...I have more compression then he does.....ON EVERYTHING! We both own Diesel trucks (I have better compression), both have snowmobiles (I have better compression). We both have sportbikes (I have better compression), We ALSO both have quads....and guess what...I HAVE BETTER COMPRESSION!! See the pattern here?!?:hammer

All in all, it's up to you....however, it's been my experience that if you seat the rings hard and early, and change the oil a few extra times in the early months of the engine, that motor will not only last a long time, but be as strong as the day you bought it....Just my .02, take it or leave it....
