Okay guys and girls few questions about the new 600s

The new 600 be in kiwi land in about a month and i am going to be getting a yellow/black one

Few things i am after i want a rear hugger and crash bobbins on it pretty much as soon as it drives out of the shop, where is the best place to get these from i also would like to get a rear hugger for the wifes 02 vtr1000f while i am at it.

Second question is about oil and running in, i am thinking about running CASTROL R4 SUPERBIKE oil in this bike always, should i run this oil from 0 miles or should i run a semi or full mineral first or just full synthetic from the get go.

My opinion from my bikes in the past run a regular oil for about 2000 miles then switch over to the fully synthetic. I tried running fully synthetic on a couple bikes from the get go and they tend to burn a little oil. The only reason this would be is from the rings not being completely seated possibly from the oil actually being too slick.

that is exactly why the rings never seated...they need some friction to seat to the cylinder wall.

So should i run semi synthnic(CASTROL GPS) or full mineral(CASTROL ACTIV 4T
) for the first 3000 odd kms? I am planning on doing service of oil at 1000, then again at 3000kms then again at 6000 and then so on

Just remember that many cars and some bikes come from the factory prefilled with full synthetic oils. Auto wise BMW, Benz and vettes all come with a full syn right out of the box.

I tend to err on the conservative side and go ahead and use a mineral oil for an oil change but not 2000 miles. Rings seat LONG before that so by 600 miles I am usually into a full syn

I wouldn't change the factory oil until the first scheduled service. I don't know what mileage that is, but regular oil is fine until you get it broken in. Don't worry about synthetic right now. Just make sure there is oil in there! http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif When you start opening the bike up and you have it broken in, you may change it to full synthetic, or even go to the synthetic blend for a cycle and then full synthetic.

Whatever route you choose, your bike is going to have oil in it which is important and it'll get broken in accordingly. When you do run full synthetic, I feel once a season is good to change it.

on the rear hugger question there are several company's that produce them. your main question to them will be if its available for the 04 600. www.eurobikes.com (http://www.eurobikes.com) www.hotbodiesracing.com (http://www.hotbodiesracing.com) and www.texasfairing.com (http://www.texasfairing.com) are good places to try and a little closer to home, www.hammerit.net (http://www.hammerit.net) make some awwwwwsome stuff. try em out

I would run regular oil for the first 1000 miles. It will aloow all of the machinery to groove together better. Then switch to the premium stuff.

Manual says 500 mile first serv. My dealer said 600, not to take over 70 for first 600 mile(SURE I WILL) i ran in to two of their techs after hours at the local hooters, they sugg. synthetic after the 2-3 oil change so that the rings would seat proper. I have the 04 600 sweet ride! 700 miles on it now

I recommended that you just leave the "breakin" oil that is already in there.

Ride for your 600 miles and either take it in for your "first checkup" or just do it yourself changing the oil as you go.

You need to allow time for the engine parts to seat and mesh with each other. That will never happen unless you can create some heat and friction, which is lessend with modern synth oils. The oil that comes with the bike is perfect for this however.

The last bike I had I ran the original oil for 1000 miles before I dropped some Castrol GPS in. It ran perfect for 5 years, YMMV.

I would run normal Suzuki oil in the bike for at least the first 2000 miles. Suzuki actually says that if you switch to full syth before 2k miles that they will void your power train warranty. How they could ever prove that I'm not sure.

Castrol, pfft... Mobil 1 or go home.

**Castrol, pfft... Mobil 1 or go home.**

Eveyone knows that if your oil doen't cost $8 a Qt or better, then its not worth a crap for a bike http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
