My new (used) bike got dropped off at the house today. Guy told me it was a 98 GSX, so naturally I assumed it was a GSX-R. But when he brought the bike over today, he hands me a Haynes manual for a GSX-F. Are fairings and whatnot compatible? How would I confirm whether this is a GSX-R or GSX-F? Bike is naked except for the tail fairing. The whole front assembly is home made lol.

a gsx is not a gsxr
i think an f is a katana..the good thing being that it is air/oil cooled and therefor simple as fuck..but no,fairings will not match..however, you can throw a variety of engines in a katana..post pics
Post up a pic if still in doubt. An easy way to tell apart even if you are not bike savvy is that the GSX-F a.k.a. Katana has cooling fins on the engine (because it's air cooled - well oil/air cooled) and the GSX-R doesn't since it's water cooled. The R is the sport bike, the F is that less sporty, more comfortable sport tourer/allrounder
...oh, just noticed OPs post date :facepalm

But at least someone answered. Guy prolly thinks we're a bunch of jerks not answering for 4 months! But if your still around carolinaboy, hit up KatRiders.com for katana info.
