Yea, the roads need to be taken care of before any kind of serious riding goes on, at least here in the NorthEast.

i'm seeing great reviews about the 04's only 356 lbs. if i remember correctly from another post. there is alot of stirr about the headlights tho. some people don't like them. but other than that performance-wise and evrything, it's just as good as the 03's if not better.

04 IS JUST AS GOOD AS 03 MAINLY COSMETIC CHANGES, HEADLIGHTS WILL TAKE SOME GETTING USED TO!!! http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

From just reading around, the handling is much improved, completely new chasis (yeah, thats a big deal), forks, brakes, etc...

Am I the only one who likes the new headlight? That is the best looking thing I have ever seen on any motorcycle.

From the test performed here in Italy, I may say that I'm a little disappointed.
The horsepower is the same of the previous model ( http://www.sportrider.com/features/146_0406_r600_dyno/ maybe due to the euro-2 pollution management ) and is 8 Kg heavier.

So I'm waiting for the test of the new 750 model before deciding for my next motorcycle, hoping that the Suzuki declaration about increased power will be a little more reliable on this model.

It will be a new and inproved bike for sure... Lighter and better forks with less stiction, better brakes for two reason ( radial master cylinder, and radial mounted calipers, more balanced chassis, lighter engine internals for less rotating mass and higher revving, lower compression which hopefully mean slightly more torque, slightly smaller overall diameter rotors for faster steering, etc, etc, etc. The list goes on and on so in other words it definitely will be a better bike the only thing that is debateable right now is how much hp it will make.

And on the HP topic, Suzuki claims 118 hp at the crank. The couple tests done so far show it having 103-104 at the wheel. This seems slightly suspicious to me. Maybe the bikes were lemons?

118hp @ the crank is probably correct... when dynoing at the wheel you usually have 10-15% drivetrain loss....which would equate to somewhere around 100hp...at least in cars I know this is true....someone correct me if Im wrong...I have never personally dynoed a bike..

Wrong, the 04 600 is completely redesigned from the ground up. The only thing I can think of that the 04 shares with the 03 is the wheels. Even the tires are different this year (Bridgestone instead of Dunlop).

10 to 15% seems a little high for a bike. If this is true for a car then it's definitely slightly less for a bike cause the power has to transfer through a lot less.

I can't say I agree with this. It's not how often you have to transfer power that determines the losses you get. It's friction that causes the losses. Car transmissions are very high precision devices, much like motorcycles. However, the final drive in a car will create fewer losses than the drive chain we deal with on motorcycles. Then again, it depends on the car as well. But I would think that the 10-15% would be about right. Otherwise, I'll pull out the equations I derived back in my automotive design systems class from college and calculate the actual losses.

My bike should be broken in by next month. 2 of my buddies got 03's and I'll report when I can wind it out. I'll tell you the new dimensions make it feel quicker. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/burnout.gif
