hey is it leagle to cut the "passanger" part of the subframe off on the 2001 gsxr 600 subframe?

I was thinking about doing this i was told that cutting it off can prevnt some crash dammage is that true?

yeah most people hack that junk off. and a shorter subframe will lessen the chances you can damage the frame tabs since there's less of a lever arm. another good trick is to drill relief holes in the subframe so it gives the part a breaking point, instead of ripping the frame tabs off.

You're in a race and you come in lets say 4th right behind the 3rd place guy in a SS race. Say Suzuki only pays contingency to 3rd place and you find out the guy in front of you cheated. It doesn't matter what he did to cheat but you KNOW he cheated....what do you do?
Remember...rules are there for a reason......if you don't want to play by the rules you don't deserve to win and you sure as hell should not bitch if you get caught.

myself speaking, if i came in fourth and the guy in third hacked his subframe id be embarrassed to protest him on the fact that he beat me fair and square and the cutting the rear subframe gives absolutely no advantage. it only weighs a few ounces anyhow.. now, if he had illegal wheels then that is a different story. but i could never protest someone for a hacked subframe.. if people are going to start protesting that shit then the "aero humps" should be illegal too for supersport. we all know they real reason the humps are there are for aero dynamics.. hence aero hump. but as these guys have said, rules are rules and im sure there would be a mary out there somewhere who would protest you for it.

I hear what you're saying about the sub-frame but if you know it's not legal then you should expect someone to protest you if there is money or championship points up for grabs. FWIW - If you do ever place in a supersport race (AMA or FUSA), be ready for post race tech where they will disqualify you for your rule infraction when they tear your bike down to the airbox. I don't know if you remember a few years back when Nicky Hayden was disqualified from a AMA SS race for a windshield that was something like an inch too tall.

As for the "aero hump"....check the rule book skippy....it's legal.....key word being legal.

BTW - A bunch of years ago at a FUSA race at Pocono...I was disqualified from 3rd place in a LW SS race because I had a upper on my Hawk and it failed a post race tech because Hawks didn't come stock with one. Was I pissed?? Sure but I knew it was not legal.

yep, ill have the rims, but if i ever wanted to run a ss race i could just throw on my stock rims since ill be keeping them, but since middleweight ss is in the middle of the day on sunday i hardly ever run it. i run gtu, heavyweight superbike, and middleweight gp. all of which allow the rims i bought. i may run hwss on early sunday (but i like to usually hit the road after sunday practice since i hate driving in the dark, and i like to be home somewhat early on sundays), and the rims wont be legal in that class, but anyone who protests a 600 in a heavyweight class is a complete tool. lol but no its not legal nj. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

superstock is a joke I watched a bike get teched w/ SS listed and it had slicks on it, some people have motorwork done at the club level unless there is a huge pot of $ on the line I dont think a subframe hacked means a jackpile of shit
