Just wondering if you guys actuall work out when you're sick or just dont feel 100% physically. I've been pretty sick this week and havent even touched weights. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif It has been driving me nuts not going to the gym.

Dont do it you'll only take longer to recover, and odds are you will make yourself worse.

A weeks break wont be detrimental to any real degree.

I never work out when I'm sick. I have once or twice and it sucked because I couldn't lift for shit b/c I had no energy. It just pissed me off about being sick even more. It was a waste of time. Rest up and let your body recover from your illness and you'll be back to normal in no time.

I got the flu last Sunday and its now Friday. I tried working out on Monday and it was shit. I couldnt lift anywhere near peak but the endurance was there. I just do some light light cardio everyday when im sick like jumping rope or something. Lifting shit above my head when my balance isnt there scares me. Take a break youre not going to lose anything in a week.

when you're sick your body is working very hard to fight the illness. working out causes extra un needed strain and lowers your immune system making it take longer to become better and possibly making you worse.

You should really not work out when you're sick.

i got sick a few days ago...first time in years that ive gotten sick, so i refused to not workout, my nose is still a little stuffed but im pretty much normal now...liftin did suck a bit but it wasnt too bad...i guess it all depends on whats wrong with ya and how your body works

To add to my previous post,

You should also consider the fact that with a lowered immune system, you have a much higher chance of contracting anything else going around. You're in constant contact with other peoples sweat on the weights, cardio equipment, benches, locker rooms stuff etc. etc.

On top of that, I don't want someone sick at the gym exposing me to their sweat and airborn illness that could very possibly get me sick.

So with that said, use your sick time as a break. Sometimes when I take a week off, I find it's just what I needed. I go back lifting more than I did before.

Ha Ha...welcome back its 25 degrees and the wind is blowing all the fresh snow around. Detroit recently overtook Houston as the fattest city in the US as well. Welcome

Listen to everybody who posted in front of me. If yo are in any sort of decent condition, after taking a break, you will be back in your former condiditon within a few weeks. Do not worry about it.
