hey there peoples. i'm a beginner as some of you already know. want to put alot of mods on new bike when i get it. so far several people have made suggestions:
1. some say dual exhaust...some say leave it be for now.
2. Neons
3. Tireflies
4. Strobes
5. Undertail
6. Flush-mount front signals
7. Full exhaust ???
8. Filter
9. TRE
10. Iridium Plugs
11. NEW CARBON FIBER TIRES!!!
12. Upgrading the Brakes (lines and pads)
13. Integrated Turn Signals
14. -1 front sprocket

~Will any of these items be hard to adjust to after i learn to ride my UNMODDED bike? i don't plan on waiting very long after i learn before i start modifying. What are your opinions on this.

Should i wait or add soon so i learn how to ride with the modifications?
OR will it even make a difference?

for example: a friend said to get a -1 front sprocket thus making it easier to wheelie. Will i have a chance of looping it if i learn without the -1 fs??

Waiting for your input or .02 THANX PEOPLE! http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/squid.gif http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/bounce.gif

whoah, whoah whoah. .. . where are you getting all of this info. . For one learn to ride it first, pulling the front wheel up should not be a major goal. Second, it is a carbon fiber tire hugger and not a carbon fiber tire. Third, instead of spending all of that money on mods, spend it on a couple of track days to learn how to really ride your bike. Fourth, no matter what anyone tells you, you do not need to change the gearing at all to pull wheelies, out ride other riders and so forth.

You also do not need a full exhaust, the amount of power gained is not enough to warrant the high cost of a full system. 75% of us that do ride on the streets do not use our bikes to it's full potential anyway, so why waste the money on making it faster and more powerful; when you could be focusing on making yourself a stronger and better rider. . . http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

If you going to mod, then mod it for your own personal tastes. The bike has to be aesthetically pleasing to you. Undertails are nice, flush mounts are nice, tireflys and strobes are not my cup of tea. What ever will make you happy with the looks is what you should do. . .forget about the MORE POWER MENTALITY. .

The question marks by "full exhaust" lead me to believe you are asking what that means, maybe I'm wrong. Anyway it means you replace the headers as well as the muffler. Most people just do the muffler because of $$$.

Even getting a full system won't make the bike that much faster especially if you buy dual exhaust. That just drops back pressure and adds weight. If you get a 1300+ cc bike, then thats not a problem. A single aftermarket muffler is the best bang for your buck which is why most people go that route.

As for the rest of the stuff you listed its mostly just for looks and cutting down wind resistance. The stuff that will mostly change how the bike rides is upgrading the brakes. All sport bikes stop fairly well from the factory, but with different calipers and pads it can get VERY touchy. I wouldn't want to see you get thrown from the bike. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif Mostly upgraded brakes are used for coming to quick stops at the track when you have major speed. I think stock ones are fine.

Oh, and don't waste time with that front sprocket deal. That 600 will go on one wheel with minimal effort. Infact, I'd be more worried about you flipping it over. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/burnout.gif

Well I hope I helped. Just my .02

I don't normally hang out here, but a bit of opinion.
Probably the thing that makes your bike stand out the most will be you. From what I've seen, women are maybe 10% (or less) of the sportbike market. Also, if you really want your bike just to stand out, get a custom paint job, nut sprockets and brakes.

If you want to show off your skils, go to the track and learn for real.

Wow, I glanced at that motorcycle ohio website and it looks like a much more organized system than the one here in illinois. I was almost forced to pay $400 for a private class because the courses here are so scattered in the worst locations and always full. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/cry.gif

The MSF course is by far one of the best courses out there. I would suggest highly that GG take that course before you take your bike on the road. One more thing, instead of spending all of that coin on performance mods, why not spend it on gear. Leather jacket and boots. Also a pair of HELD gloves will save in the event of a collision ..

Stop. Stop. Stop... Take the safety course for one it may seem a little basic depending on your skill level however it will give you a cut on insurance most likely and it will also give you good fundamentals. After that's done I'm positive that you'll have enough fun on the bike that the last thing from your mind for a couple months will be details that you spoke of. And believe me if I saw you pulled over on the side of the road I would be more than impressed. I'm actually shocked that you want to modify the bike at all and proud if anything.

First of all you don't need any appearance mods, apart from removing mudflap and stickers, the bike will nice as it is http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Here is what I would have done:

1. Frame sliders

2. Safety course followed by a Track "school"

3. Buy, read and practice what is said in Nick Ienatsch's book on Sport Riding Techniques

4. Find a buddy who is good/skillfull rider who knows your limits, and practice together. Riding behind a good rider will make you a better one too, provided it is done in "your" pace.

5. After you are getting to terms with your bike and skills start looking into suspension settings/suspension modifications, brakes, lighter wheels, different tire choices, exhaust options combined with fuel management (Power commander/EMS) etc....

Other mods will be down to your personal preferences.

.....and wear your gear http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/punk.gif

After you learn how to ride it just put a yosh exhaust and a power commander on it. Leave the stock air filter in it. You'll be good to go.

mmmbarley
02-27-2004, 03:15 AM
it'll probably be a little while for the power commanders as the old fi was 16 and the new is 32. lets see how the upgraded ecu controls the fi before messing with it.

I say do what pleases you. if you really like somthing and have the means to obtain it then get it as long as it make you happy, I also agree with hammerdown learn to ride before any performance mods are made lets face it a stock 600cc rockets are fast to begin with, and new the 600's are dam near as fast as an old 900's.

p.s. your a hottie I'd ride next to you anyday http://www.gixxer.com/forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Ok that's apparent not only from this comment but from the fact that you (like most of the girls on forums) insist on showing us your face every time you post....Not flaming ya but at any rate, the smarter more experienced guys on here are trying to tell you to let mods come naturally and more importantly learn to ride the bike first. The sad fact is (and alot of newbies disagree with this) is that if you ride the bike - I mean actually ride it - there's a high probability that you'll crash. All beginners crash/fall- it's nothing personal believe me. Even experienced riders fall - they just don't make typical mistakes that lead to falls, i.e., standstill fall, sharp turn tip-over, etc. It's okay to be an exhibitionist - hell most riders are in some form - it just that "showing off" should not be the most important thing to you right now. 95% of your efforts should go toward learning to ride your new bike. The other 5% shall be devoted toward learning about the beauty that is your machine and perhaps making practical mods - things that will help you ride better/safer and maket the bike more pleasing for you to look at.

What about gear?

I'd rather get gear before I did any mods to my bike. I wouldn't want any plastic surgeon modding my body if he didn't have to. See what I'm getting at?

PS: I do already have my new yellow gear, I'm just waiting on my new yellow sixxer.

You want to do all these mods but one small question. How ya gonna get the bike home from the dealership? And oh yeah, the best bike to learn on is the 04 GXSR(I think you should learn on the hayabusa).

Neons? Seems like all you wanna do is pose cuz you havent once asked about how to ride it.

My suggestion for Mods: FRAMESLIDERS BBBUUWWWAAAAAHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA Cuz your gonna need em.

In all seriousness you have no idea how much your gonna drop your pretty new bike.

Peoplel like you should be taken out of the gene pool. Your gonna die on that bike and possibly endanger others, but oh well at least you'll look good doing it right?

Say high to death for me and dont forget about that hayabusa!!!!

I second the notion of the MSF class. Best 25 bucks I ever spent, not to mention the insurance discount. Also a very good idea to get a hold of some gear. I think the key here is to keep both the gixxer...and you, looking as pretty as you are!

Ride hard!
