: Bought another Maxima (pics)
BruisedGSXR 01-17-2010, 11:15 AM My little maxima story...sorry kind of long
Just bought my third 4th gen. maxima. When I was 18 (9 years ago) I went to stealership and bought a 97 SE White/Black leather with 45K miles. I was instantly in love and cherised that car for a long long time. Shortly after buying it I put 01 17" wheels on it. That was in 2001 and I swear I was the first to put newer gen wheels on the older gens, lol, not really, but seriously back then you never saw them like that. Also put eibach pro kit and koni yellows on her. Was a gorgeous car, will post pics of that beaut when i get home later. Then in 2002, when my then girlfriend (wife now) needed a new car, I couldnt bring myself to spend a single dollar on anything but a max. So I bought her a 97 GLE Wine/Black Leather. Immediately threw some 18" Murano wheels on that one.
Anyway, almost two years ago a 72 year old lady stole my baby from me by crossing double yellow and totalling her with 207K miles on her and still running super strong and smooth. Of course insurance didnt give me anywhere near what she was worth to me. Took the ins money and bought a grand cherokee for the wife and I started driving the wine 97 and have missed my gorgeous white max (BEST COLOR THEY MAKE).....
sooo, browsing craigslist couple weeks ago and came across a very, very clean 99 SE white/black leather. had to pull the trigger. went to look at it, and damn is it clean. Has 180K miles, true 2 owner Georgia car, great paint and insanely mint interior. Has the factory floor mats and everything...
Well here she is 5 min after buying her and the second one is the same night after I took her home and took off the pinstripe and gave her a few goodies taken off the now for sale wine 97... sorry for the crap cell phone pics, will post better ones once i get home..

Vooduguru 01-17-2010, 12:31 PM Howcome the paint and interior on Nissans don't hold up for shit?
Not a dig, but seriously asking.
I see a LOT of Nissans with high miles and running strong, but their paint and interiors fall apart like a geo.

huh, not sure really. like i said, this is my third 97-99 maxima and all my interiors were/are in great shape, same with the paint.
1st maxima - 97 owned from 45k mi till 200K mi and 7-8 years and paint and interior were great.
2nd maxima - 97 owned from 120K mi till 210K and still going. had it since 02 and both the interior and paint are good
3rd maxima - 99 just bought with 180K and interior and paint are excellent
maybe the maximas get a pass on this stereotype
06 GIX 01-17-2010, 02:28 PM i got a 97 nissan pick up and both the paint and the interior are in excellent shape no cracks in the dash or tears in the seat
WJGSXR 01-17-2010, 04:07 PM Nissan does use shit paint. My 05 G35 has all kinds of chips and spots on the bumper and hood. Great car other than that though.
Vooduguru 01-17-2010, 04:23 PM Maybe their paint doesn't hold up as good where there's salt used on the roads.
I see nissan's all the time with falling apart interiors. Not necessarily cracked dashboards, but bad panels, headliners, electrical issues, again may be due in part to salty conditions.
redlinegsxr 01-17-2010, 06:37 PM My buddy's past 3.5 swapped 96 and his 02 max

Yea it boogied for about a month until he blew it up :lol
Carnage 01-17-2010, 11:30 PM Cool my mom bought one in 95 and had it for ten years. That really was the first car that I drove around after getting my license back in the day. At the time, it was like a Benz to me with it's fully loaded leather interior, Bose system and seemingly endless options. Nice ride, and damn near bulletproof. :biggrin

yea, for their time, they were like benz. hell, my 97 would roll the front windows down with the keyless! craxy option for a 97. and yes they are rather bulletproof

Honda's not much better. i've had two, both chip and scratch very easily. Actually my Mazda had great paint but nothing compared to the beemer I had. That stuff was like kevlar.
Great looking Maxima OP. always liked those :thumbup

Not tryin to be a dick.....but,fast compared to what???:dunno:dunno
soysauce021 01-18-2010, 05:45 PM most japanese car markers have a softer clear coat vs. say a benz that has a ceramic clear coat. Easier to re-polish and what not but durability isn't that great if you're not careful with it and leave contaminants in the paint for long. That's why a lot of honda/toyotas and stuff you'll see the clearcoat peeling after a handful of years.

Best Benz I've driven was an last gen S55 Amg. Faster car, a Z06. When are you gonna learn that you shouldn't even comment on these threads. You know you're automatically excluded from these conversations. :cheers
BTW...when are you gonna stop bullshittin and get yourself one of these?

CL all the way...but then again...I think you have car seats to contend with (not that they wouldn't fit). :scratch :biggrin
oldgixxer 01-19-2010, 08:48 AM lol,i wont post on these threads anymore:hammer
New CL65 is gorgeous, but at $198,000 just a *lil* outta my price range:shifty
However....the '05-06 CL&SL 65's are definitely in my price range and although not as sexy as the '09's are still just as fuckin fast(I use that term loosely lol!)....and as far as the babyseat goes, the kid's 7 now...she can get on her damn bicycle&pedal herself to where she wants to go....daddy needs a V-12tt:burnout

Same can be said about Honda paint. All the civics and accords ive seen from the early 2000s look like shit already.
08 GSX-R750 01-20-2010, 12:30 PM A32 Maximas (95-99) are great reliable cars, their only weakness is their ignition coilpack that likes go out once in a while and the damn belt tensioner bolt that always breaks. The engines are good for like 300K easy, many of the A32 Maxima that come in for service here at our dealer have well over 220K miles and still run/look great. My fav Maxima is the 2001 20th Anniversary A33.

yes yes, A32 FTW !! and fwiw, the 99s (which i have) seem to be only ones that really have issues with the coil packs, and mine have already been replaced :punk
