ive heard about swapping out the cams. my bikes a k7 600 and puttin 1000 cams in it..anyone ever messed with um?

I know it is a very common MOD for 05 Models and older. I am looking into it also but I don't think it can be done on 06 and up. Dave H is also looking into this MOD as well.

I haven't found any real answers for this mod. Tim Radley, who is in the U.K., may be the one to ask. He has done dyno work on the 06/07 600/750's in the past. Tim posts in the 06/06 600/750 forum .

that doesn't make sense to me. All bike have the cam position sensor. But on the gsxr's it's normally on the intake side. So you just get another inatake cam to put on the exhaust side.

Ok J, so do you have any idea which INTAKE CAM can be used on a 06-08 600-750? And do you need adj cam gears to do it?

you will need gears to time it. What side is your cam position sensor on?

i talked to the guy at a local performance shop..same guy that did my tune and pcIII. he said i can use 05-06 1000 cams and all i have to swap out is the valve springs..... he said just used both the 1000 cams. mines a 07 600

talked to lee today from lee's performance and um.. he said the 1000 cams will gain a few hp but you will loose ALOT of torque. so def not goin with the cams. thinking bout millin the head down and doin some work on the head to add some compression...its hard to make a 600 fast man... I am in your same spot. I am going to Mill the head .015 and port the head. Polishing is a thing of the past is what I was told by a reputable shop. If you do polish just polish the exhaust side. I looked into a .50mm Head gasket but once again was told it wouldnt give much help. The guy I was going to buy it from said it will give me 3/4 of a point. but if you mill the head I was told you will have to get the seets machined. I have been given alot of info, so best thing to do is research and research....LOL

You can mill the head. .75 points of compression is a lot. Don't know why you would need to machine the seats. Did he explain why? If you take your time and measure the piston to head clearance and mill the head and degree the cams you should pick up some descent power I would think.

sounds great. it will wake it up. you going to do the cam swap while your in there or just degree the stock cams?

I am staying away from the CAM MOD....It is a great MOD for the 05 and older.
I should know more Tuesday about the repair my head needs to go thru before I start the performance mods. I know I need to replace the seats and get 2 valves.

I think it is worth it if you can find someone familiar with your head and motor. You will still need to get some adjustable sprockets and degree the cams because your cams will be different from milling the head.

Yeah I texted you, but I understand you got alot to balance. I didnt know if you changed it bc one you took it off your Sig and two bc of that person that was being a idiot to you.
