Suggestions:

1. Buy your event tickets in advance to save some money.

2. Book your hotel room in advance, again to save money, and to make sure you have a place to stay.

3. If your planning on going to Cannery Row on sat, plan to get there before 4-4:30 to be able to park on the actual Cannery Row Street.

4. Buy a $10 grandstand seat for the days your going to the races. That way you get to watch the big screen, and be able to sit durring the race.

5. Defiantely take a walk up to the "Corkscrew", and watch some racing, or qualifying.

6. Plan the route to take there and back. There are numerous back roads and highways on the way there, no matter what direction your comming from.

I went for the first time last year, and had a blast. We headed up there on fri at 7am, and spent the whole day riding the back roads. We didnt arrive at our hotel untill 6pm! We actually stayed in Salinas right off the 101. It was $59/night, and I just booked it again for the same price for this year. The track was about a 15 min ride from the hotel, but the nice thing is that you enter the track on the back side (reservation road), and you dont have to deal with much traffic.

On a whole, its just amazing to see so many bikes in one place. We started seeing bikes that were going there when we were still about 300 miles away. The only thing we are doing different this year, is to plan a better route up there. It was fun riding all those roads, but it was just a little too much riding in one day. We basically backtracked a few times to be able to take certain roads, but it turned 350 miles into just over 500. The bad thing was once we go there, I didnt feel like getting back on the bike to soon. Also, we are going to head down to Cannery Row a little earlier. And make sure you take a camera if you plan to go!
