i think i might just have to pick up either a 2003 z400 or 2004 honda 450r this week.
here is what i know so far from the two that i am contemplating.
z400- all i know from it is that it is getting new plastics, seat cover and vinyle kit. has a newer 440 athena big bore kit. and... thats a bout it. havent see nit yet (tomorrow will hopefully get too). so thats that one..
honda 450r- clean as a whistle! frame has barely a scratch from the riding boots. has a hmf pipe with jet kit, and k&n filter (that would get replaced fast!) and thats it. its a kick start, so that has me a little on the fence right now bc i dont weigh a whole lot and had a hard time trying to get it to start, john, my shop guy can start it on the first kick. its something id have to get use to i guess. the only other thing is that he said it was rode on the road a bunch when it was ridden, so im hoping that it wasnt ragged out too hard on the streets for too long of a time at a high rpm.
but really the motor sounds great, no smoke, no oil leaks or seapage, blown gaskets, or exhaust seal leaks. it looks great really.
prices so far are...
z400 $2500
450r asking price is $3500 but i can get it down to $3000. so thats good.
i think im gonna lean more towards the honda because when it comes to atv's honda is what i prefer. i love my gixxer but gotta go with honda on atv's.
so if there is anyone in here that has ever owned either of these, please let me know whats up. like i said, i m gonna hopefully get to look at the Z tomorrow, but if he doesnt come through then im gonna go ahead and try for the honda for sure. then it will be off to the bank on wednesday.
if i get either one i will FOR SURE post pics as that is what everyone really cares about. so thanks guys. peace!
