: Brock Lesnar
love4steel 11-16-2009, 05:18 PM Man I just got done reading about that poor bastard. Looks like he may never fight again! Sucks - he wasn't my fav fighter by a long shot but he was an exciting edition to the heavyweight division. I have a feeling either his liver has shut down as a result of abusing steroids or maybe he has contracted the hiv. He does fit the profile of a closet pickle smoocher. These are just my speculations not facts mind you. Anyone heard anything else about it?
Moto_Joe 11-16-2009, 05:23 PM I am hearing about it on the Jason Ellis show, and people are throwing all sorts of suspcions. Lyme disease, cancer, menengitis, all sorts of shit
GixxerFX 11-16-2009, 05:35 PM I hope he gets well. Hopefully it curable.
llbigbird 11-16-2009, 05:54 PM According to Dana he has mono plus something else that he can't say but he will say it is not cancer or HIV. Hopefully he recovers and gets back his health.
soysauce021 11-16-2009, 07:16 PM regardless of how i feel about him as a fighter, you never wish that upon someone. So get well Brock.
In regards to the vacant title it should be Carwin vs. Velasquez. Especially since it looks like Nogueira has a staph infection and can't fight now anyways.
love4steel 11-16-2009, 08:09 PM Carwin vs. Velasquez
I completely agree.
ckl5899 11-16-2009, 09:08 PM Get Well Soon Brock!!!!!!
+1 on him getting well.
--Wag--
SPL170db 11-16-2009, 09:46 PM They said it was Diverticulitis.
Qui3tStorm 11-16-2009, 11:29 PM shitty! hope he recovers fully.
Maniac 11-17-2009, 10:08 AM Damn. All feelings towards him as a fighter aside, that just sucks. Hopefully he pulls through. I don't wish that on anyone.
llbigbird 11-17-2009, 07:12 PM This was posted on the LA Times website
Brock Lesnar, the heavyweight champion of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, underwent surgery Monday for a bacterial infection in his intestinal tract, and UFC President Dana White told The Times that doctors are "waiting to see if he needs more."
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/.a/6a00d8341c630a53ef0120a6ac8bdc970b-500wi (http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/.a/6a00d8341c630a53ef0120a6ac8bdc970b-pi) White declined to reveal why the surgery was required, describing it as a "minor" procedure, but a high-placed source close to the fighter confirmed the intestinal surgery.
Lesnar, who memorably won at UFC 100 in July via a second-round TKO of Frank Mir, originally pulled out of his scheduled Saturday night fight against Shane Carwin complaining of sickness. He then told White he'd be unable to fight in a rescheduled Jan. 2 card because he had contracted mononucleosis. White told Yahoo! Sports on Saturday that Lesnar was very sick and would be out for an extended period.
White told The Times on Tuesday that he will schedule an interim heavyweight title fight during Lesnar's absence and that he's "working on

Nothing in the usual news slots. Where did you read this? Sad if it's true.

mlissa2007 12-03-2009, 07:48 AM brock is alive and not dead. he is at home recovering from what i have read
j
Moto_Joe 12-03-2009, 12:26 PM this is at least the second if not third time fuckers have rumoured him to be dead :wacko.
sweet2bad 12-13-2009, 01:31 PM its a bad sign for him that he actually had to have the surgery, cus ppl suffering from their first episode dont usually need surgery unless its pretty bad; ppl suffering from repeat episodes may not benefit from surgery..:sad
I dont think he should be champ, but hopefully his career isnt done.
I dont understand how he would let it progress so far. The only thing professional athletes have to do is train and stay healthy and they have ppl they pay to monitor both, so wtf happened
llbigbird 12-17-2009, 05:42 PM UFC president Dana White says the status of Brock Lesnar is unkown until he gets re-evaluated. “We’ll know in a month to a month and a half whether he’s going to need that major surgery,” White said at the “UFC 107 (http://www.5thround.com/news/17032/ufc-107-penn-vs-sanchez-results-live-play-by-play/): Penn vs. Sanchez” post fight press conference.
White went on to say that if Lesnar needed to have major surgery that, “there’ll be an interim title.”
With today’s report from MMAJunkie that Frank Mir will be taking on Shane Carwin at UFC 111 (http://www.5thround.com/rumors/16507/ufc-111/) for an interim title, one can assume that Lesnar will at the very least be out of action for at least the next 6 months and even longer if major surgery is needed.
Lesnar’s health has been in question since his title defense against Shane Carwin at UFC 106 was scratched due to his intestinal illness.
Mir earned his rumored slot for the interim title following his destruction of Cheick Kongo in UFC 107’s co-main event last Saturday night.
sweet2bad 12-17-2009, 07:49 PM ^
the interim title thing is stupid. There's confusion that goes along with it..too much confusion.
SuzukiJockey00 12-21-2009, 08:33 PM why doesnt he have to relinquish the title if he is unable to defend it? i mean i know he's sick, but still. as much as i hate brock as a person, you can not deny that his presence in the heavyweight division has elevated the level of competition, skill, and size necessary to compete in that class
Moto_Joe 12-21-2009, 08:38 PM If it appears he will not be able to defend it at all, they will take it away from him. But if it appears to just be a temporary hiatus, then they do the Interim. Mir had his title held while he was out due to a motorcycle crash...... there have been a few of them.
Basically if the current title holder is seriously hurt/sick etc, then they let them keep the title they earned, and have an interim bout. The interim bout seems to usually be between the loser of the last title bout, and the next opponent the champ was due to face. But neither person truly earned a full on title..... they didnt beat the champ.
When the current title holder comes back, they will then have a unification bout with him, and the interim holder. If the interim holder wins, he is then the unified champ. If the current champ wins, then the unified belt is pretty much just turned in.
Not sure how it works if the current champ quits, retires, or is fired/banned from teh org though.
Moto_Joe 12-21-2009, 08:55 PM I mised part of that.
the returning champ has to beat the next contender first, then the winner of that fight, fights the interim champ for the undisputed title.
Example.......
Couture took the title from Sylvia.
Couture had a contract dispute, and his title was put on hold while they figured it out.
Nogueria and Sylvia fought for the interim. Nogueria won
Couture came back, and fought Lesnar for his return bout, and lost. so he lost his title. Lesnar didnt get a belt for that though it jsut makes him the top contender basically
Mir fought Nogueria for Interim title and won.
Lesnar beat Mir for Undisputed title.
NOW....... Lesnar was due to fight Carwin for undisputed. But since he cant, Carwin fill fight Mir (last title holder.... and top contender) for interim. When Lesnar returns (if he does) he has to fight the top contender first to keep his shot at the title, then beat teh current title holder to re-unify it..........
I think............... someone correct me if I missed something :lmao
jdmcb3si 12-21-2009, 08:56 PM Never wou wish this on anyone but he is a cheater and his whole UFC career is/was bullshit. He walked on not having to earn his way like every other fighter in the UFC, all just because he came from the WWE and had the coin to bribe Dana.
hope he recovers but would not be hurt if he couldnt fight again.
Moto_Joe 12-21-2009, 08:58 PM How is he a cheater :blink.
I dont think he bribed dana at all. I honestly think Dana put him against a couple big names hoping to make him look like a jackass........ and it back fired. He beat Danas big dogs and top contenders, and Dana had to eat crow basically...... and give him the shot since he was beating the contenders.
Lets also not forget Randy Couture got a title shot in his third fight I believe. Nobody talks shit on Randy taking the title in three bouts :dunno
Moto_Joe 12-21-2009, 09:08 PM Well, technically I guess that is not quite the same, but damn close. Randy fought a tourny. Then won a tourny, then won a superfight (they did not have "championships" yet" then fought for a championship.. and defended that three times, before losing to the cheating Josh barnett :dunno........
But still, he was a champion in 4 fights in the UFC.
SuzukiJockey00 12-21-2009, 09:46 PM it's all about money and dana will only put in fighters that he can promote and get people to watch UFC with. brock lesnar gives him that. from the beginning he has been a huge marketing tool. look at it from dana's standpoint. Brock is a humungous, freak of nature, coming from WWE, he's a true talented athlete based on his NFL stats he put up in tryouts, and he's a crazy ass dude. people want to see him whether he gets beat, or smashes someones eyeballs out their ass. people want to see exciting fights. why do you think kimbo got put into TUF and was givin a fight against houston alexander? everybody loves kimbo, he puts people in the seats. that's also why anderson silva got bumped up a weight class to fight. granted he is insane and there really isn't any competition left for him, he's not appealing. he doesn't look jacked, his fights are technically brilliant but to the average person they aren't all that exciting because they are over quickly and don't present anything really above any other fight (to the average person). brock, kimbo, they both are ripped, brock is an a-hole which obviously stirs attention, and everyone just wants to see kimbo create another youtube click like his street fights. people who are exciting and put people in the seats get fights. if nobody wants to watch, what good are they to dana?
nobody bribed anybody. i don't believe brock is using steriods now, can't really speak for his WWE days though. they are all subject to random urine tests. if you recall shaun sherk lost his title for failing a urine test because of steriods a year or two ago i believe. brock is a complete freak of nature but you must respect all of the UFC fighters for their hard work. i used to wrestle in high school and still do in college and after you go hard for 6 minutes and you see what it takes to prepare and go through that physically and mentally, you better respect them especially since they go 15 minutes with the addition of punches, kicks, submissions, etc. and for you to fight a tournament like they did in the old days like you said Joe about randy, that is the sickest thing to do. i can't even imagine what it's like to be cut up, burnt out, and beat up and having to go fight 3 or 4 more fights. that takes a whole lotta somethin else.
this whole interim, champion, top contender nonsense is a hot mess. i wish they would just give out some information and clear things up. but really the longer he stays out the longer Mir has to beef up and get ready for him:thumbup
Moto_Joe 12-21-2009, 10:00 PM Granted, there is a "show" about it. But I dont think that was Danas intentions.
Same with Kimbo. He had to eat his words there too, and Dana is WAY too arrogant to do so willingly. I truly think he hoped BOTH of them would bring him some money, and get fucked up in the process, and prove him right. He talked shit on both Lesnar and Kimbo. Both of which have proven him wrong basically.
With Kimbo he said paraphrased "kimbo will never fight/survive in the UFC" Then once Kimbo had a pro fight or two, and did well enough he said "the ONLY way Kimbo will fight in the UFC is if he makes it through TUF" all the while still talking shit about him being a thug.
Kimbo came to TUF< and proved he is actually a nice guy, and DOES have some skill. THEN Dana saw the marketing he could use it for. I truly think he hoped he could hype it as "kimbo gets his ass handed to him in TUFF". But after as the show develped I think he realized he was being an idiot, and changed the way they filmed it..... and edited the show to make Kimbo the star, rather than the chump. Hell kimbo was taken out, and STILL got his fight........ thus Dana still had to chew on his own foot.
SuzukiJockey00 12-21-2009, 10:07 PM ya, i suppose that's true too.
either way, unless something drastic happens, i see Mir v. Lesnar 3 coming and after that last beating Mir got i sure hope he's got a better gameplan cuz idw see him lose again. Mir for champ!
MotoMummy 12-21-2009, 11:30 PM I hope he gets well soon as nobody wants anyone to go through any type of sickness/injury. I will say i'm not sad to see him leave the ring though.
jdmcb3si 12-21-2009, 11:53 PM hes a cheater because in lesnar vs mir 2 he hit mir in the back of the neck with hammer fists 4 times before the ref ended it.
Also I dont want to hear any guff about not knowing what it takes to do this. I trained with Miletich out of bettendorf until I became unemployed. I know what they do and I know their training.
Moto_Joe 12-22-2009, 06:25 AM I personally have never heard any rule on hitting in the back of the neck :dunno. NOt saying there isnt one though.
But as fast as he was swinging, does that make him any more of a cheater than any other fighter who errantly makes an illegal strike?
If anything, that makes the ref in the wrong. He should have warned him and stood them up. Then he would have continued to pummel Mir, and still won, and then not be a cheater in your eyes :dunno.
All the lesnar haters are funny to me. You cant deny he is/was legit. You may not like him. You may not like how he got there. But his abilities are undeniable.
The name of the thing is Ultimate FIGHTING championship. NOT Ultimate Jiu Jitsu. Not Ultimate Muai Thai. It has over the years been dubbed mixed martial arts, but it started with just as many brawlers as anything. Hell there are other fighters out there who are basically strictly brawlers who nobody talks shit about. Liddell has developed grappling, but he is a brawler. abbot is washed up now, but he is a brawler and a legend.......... the list goes on. Nothing says you have to be an MMA practitioner to be in the UFC. You have to be able to FIGHT. Lesnar proved he can.
