: Bad Riding Day
Squigs 10-24-2009, 09:39 PM Great story to tell you guys today about some jackass on a Honda.
Was solo riding home today from work on a somewhat busy road. 1 lane on each side of road. Speed limit is 50 so im cruising at about 53 and start catching up to some other kid on a bike. Finally catch up to him (not meaning to) and hes doing about 40 in the 50. Hes hanging on the left side so im slowly trying to pass him on the right. I see him turn his head so I know he sees me. Just as i get next to him, he speeds up out of nowhere. So here i go again, cruising at 53 still. He must of been doing about 55 cuz hes slowly losing me but he was couple bike lengths ahead on the right side and i was on the left. Than out of nowhere this stupid fuck slams his rear brake and slides from the shoulder of lane all the way to other side of road and headed the other direction almost making me slam right into the side of his bike for being a fucking idiot. I was trying to race him, or mess with him etc. just on my way home.
Anyway, bad day at work and than this fucking idiot. Flame away!
Duff8402 10-24-2009, 09:47 PM Not gonna flame, but that's why I never pass someone in the same lane that I wasn't riding with in the first place. Wait until there's a chance to go around him in an actual passing zone. Never know what kind of idiots are riding out there

Could of been worse in a passing lane, higher speeds and if he did that shit id be bound to hit him
Anyway, might not be a big deal to some of you guys, but im somewhat of a new rider. Im just happy i been praticing good braking skills in empty parking lots for these times.
Duff8402 10-24-2009, 09:58 PM May not have happened if you had passed him in a passing zone. Some people get pissed off if you pass them in their lane and they don't know you.
I don't get pissed off so much that I'm going to do some crazy shit like that, but I'd really prefer if someone was going to pass me, and like I said before...wasn't riding with them in the first place, that they would not pass me in my lane.
DemonRR 10-24-2009, 10:06 PM isnt it illegal to pass a bike while both of you being in the same lane (other than a rider is a group)? and kinda dangerous. it doesnt bother me when im passed on the inside or outside of a corner on the track (all of us are experienced riders), but on the streets is a big no no. and i will pull out the international "asshat" finger and proudly display said finger to the person.
andrewexd 10-24-2009, 10:36 PM yeah, the only time I will pass is if they signal to do so, or deliberatley move inside otherwise I pass by switching lanes.
slyang1012 10-24-2009, 11:27 PM i wait f its only one lane til he signals or another lane opens up....but if im in carpool, ill wait til it opens up and if its safe to do so, ill pass em on the next right lane, signal, wave and get back into carpool.

So all your "experienced" riders never break the law? Never ride over the limit?
Give me a break, and please spare us the attitude that your "premier club", lol, is above making mistakes or riding in a slightly dangerous way in the name of fun.
And its not a "big" no-no, its a bit rude but it dosesent deserve the finger either.

I will not pass someone in the same lane. If I am going to make a pass I will do it in the opposing lane of traffic when I can do it somewhat safely. Why would I want to take out/risk a follow rider just because he is in my way?
mortenmorfar 10-26-2009, 08:03 AM Here in Denmark it's a 100$ fine if you ride/overtake in the same lane, you don't overtake a car in the same lane do you ?
But sure the guy on the other bike should have used his signals

are you really such a little girl at heart? cant take somone passing you in same lane, and dont even go on about the track cause no one cares, its not even remotely the same
RichiB 10-26-2009, 08:39 AM Agree ++ DemonRR, passing same lane on road is lazy and increased risk = asshat move. If you do it, you know who you are. It's not about being a little girl, it's about not taking out or being taken out by someone who couldn't wait a few corners to do it safely and properly. You expect it on the track, and the traffic moves in one direction, there's runoff etc etc factored in. None of the above applies to the road, so you are correct if only by accident, they are completely different, as was his point.

Dude, where did I say you should pass in the same lane?
All Im saying is lay off the "Im better than you" attitude because it really isnt that big of a deal if done safely in a strait line.
What a bunch of crybabies, geez, you guys love to preach to others on how to ride as if you are all "perfect" riders or something when I know its a lie. Everybody on here takes risks in the name of fun or speed so get off your high horses people.

Is this not what the whole post is about? Maybe I read it wrong. I could care less if someone passes me on the street or track for that matter as long as there is no risk to me.
McDirty 10-26-2009, 03:52 PM Passing somebody on the right is not cool, you should not attempt to lane share with somebody you are not riding with.

This isn't about breaking the law to me, it's more of a common courtesy between riders. This is exactly why I ride in the left-most portion of the lane, so people won't attempt to pass me inside my own lane.
How would you like it if a CAR tried the same maneuver? I've had it happen when riding on the right-hand side or middle of the lane and it is not even remotely cool and is highly dangerous, another biker could just as easily take you out.
jannix 10-26-2009, 04:04 PM I have to agree with the responses here. Some people can't even go on a straight line (on a straight road). I wouldn't pass people in the same lane and preferred if others didn't pass me in my lane. Though I have signaled guys who seem to be in a rush to pass on by when I get the feeling they are getting agitated and might do something stupid a half hour down the line if I don't let them pass. :) (Better to have idiots in front of me than behind me, where I can't see what they are upto)
DemonRR 10-26-2009, 04:14 PM it puts other riders at rish making dumb ass passes.
and as far as the track comment. LMFAO!!!! sorry bro, you just made yourself fit into the gixxer asshat stereo type.

So you would rather hold people up then let them by? Isnt that being discourteous?
I swear, Ive never met any of you guys but you should all lighten up, let faster riders by if you can, and most of all learn to have fun and share the road with others instead of deliberately slowing them down and getting all pissed when they pass you in a less than safe manner.
Like I said, I am NOT advocating passing in the same lane, Ive actually never done it.
What I am suggesting is that you all chill out on the whole issue because its not that big of a deal. Its not worth flicking off a fellow rider who just wanted to go faster than your slow ass but couldent get by with you blocking them!

If I am doing the SPEED LIMIT, then the "faster" rider behind me can make a LEGAL pass using the PASSING lane when it is safe to do so. If all I did was watch the guy behind me I would be a huge risk to both myself and that rider. What part of any of the above is difficult for you to comprehend?

Yeah well when hes doing 40mph in a 50 im going to try and pass.

LOL, the slow guy in question was going 10 UNDER the limit - if you ride like that you better expect to be passed in ways that are not exactly kind.
Also, you are the one so concerned with people behind you, and people passing you, not me, and Im not the one telling people how to ride, YOU are.
What part of that cant you understand?

:monkeyface
You are an asshat.
IMO - if you are riding with them or not, you should not attempt to pass in the same lane until the front rider has firstly realized that you are intending to pass and they have signalled you to pass.
Under no circumstance should you assume that the other rider has seen you or knows you will be passing.
Same old cliche' "Ride as if your invisible"
