: srad to 01-03 tail and nose swap....

Does anyone know if we can put the seat/tail section for the k1, etc onto the srad subframe with some fabrication? I know that people have modded the k1 subframe to the srad but what if I don't want to change the subframe? Also, I know that btpautoparts.com had a conversion kit for the front upper fairing but it looks like they don't make them anymore or keep promising in the near future, etc. How hard is it to just get a k1 front and mod that for the srad with a new headlight? I have searched and searched and most people answer these questions by saying to get the subframe and to buy the btpautoparts conversion kit. I'm looking at experimenting with getting the parts I want and trying to rig them up to fit. How hard? Thanks in advance.

You can make anything work if you put the time into it, but the SRAD subframe is a fat S.O.B. compared to the k1-k3. It would be easier and make more sense to just swap subframes. It's not that difficult, a hella lot easier than what your talking.

Theres an aftermarket nose kit that looks a lot like the k1. Dont remember who makes it.

But why?:dunno just get a K1 if you want that look...

Rear = swap subframe.
Front = good luck

Why bother, buy a k+ model for the looks.
Or keep the SRAD for its looks, performance.

i put K2 750 nose & fairings on my SRAD, not hard to do at all

but you need...
front subframe then you elongate the mounting holes to bolt it on, then stick nose on that, then air tubes & fairings & you can make the new holes coz they dont line up, but iv got my crash bungs holding them in the middle & the 3 allen bolts holding each side to the nose, the front sits closer to the front wheel then normal, but its fine, & i do wheelies everywhere

next for me is a carbon fibre 02/03 R1 arse mod, all ready to go on now(has been for 2 years :wait), but need someone to cut the subframes lugs down abit

heres my SRAD-600-750 K2 :D

SHIT pic really..

i managed to get hold of a k1 fibreglass rear end(one piece) off a race bike wivout provisions for passenger seat and tail light wiv rear subframe included off ebay.............the rear subframe waz an srad one wiv the passenger back section taken off. the only mod on it was two holes drilled in the top lugs one on each side so the new body work cud bolt onto............apart from that there were no other mods, i had to move the regulator/rectifier upside down under thr petrol tank bracket,was a bit of a tight sqeeze but it works. have to cut the undertray in half & tie it up somehow......still working on it.also still have to make provisions for the rear light and indicators but i'm sure i'll make it work...............hope this helps tho i'm no expert.

Nice looking bike SRAD DJ. I would never modify my srad cause i like the fat ass and front. But your bike looks really good with that front end modification. Very good job.

cheers mate ;)

so easy to do & coz im doing the R1 rear at some point, i wanted to give the front some more 'points' to it

today iv been changing engine over, still another FI 7shifty but much cleaner,healthier & only 9k on it.....only took me 2hours ish from running it to draining oil & coolant then taking everything off & engine out, then it rained :cursing

so asap tomorrow, its fresh lump in :D - was gonna go the thou route, but this was cheap & no modding needed.......lets hope my hot starting prob fucks off now :wait

i just sold a 01-03 subframe modded to fit the srad!! its easy.the bottom mounting locations line up but the top tabs need to be cut and then inverted and switched with the other side(left on right and vice versa)and then tig welded because it's aluminum.i paid a metal shop 75.00 to do the mod and it turned out perfect!!and you can cut more length out of the top mounts to raise the tail for a more aggressive gp look!! sweet cheap mod go with it!!:punk

You can also locate the battery box in the seat unit, With no visable battery box you can see more of the shape of the tail unit.

Sorry to bump a old thread! I found a cheap k7 donor bike, do you think that will bolt on if I swap subframes? Someone should sticky this to stop all the conversion threads.

I am thinking about doing this mod myself. I like the SRAD looks, but like the k series tails better. Call me crazy. I found a local guy that does really good tig welding. Now, what year subframes are required to do the lower, or upper mount "swap". I see information here on cutting and swapping the top mounts, but on the write up, it says its the lower ones. Anyone done this recently?

I think i will just do the 2001 tail with the nose swap. leave everything else the same. I have been looking at the race fairings for the 2001-03 years and the swap should not be too hard if you fabricate your own mount tabs.

I've done the full convertion on my 99 600 srad font fairing,light,side fairings & rear subframe and seat fairing it looks the dogs nuts add me on facebook full pics on there madmpw01@aol.com you have make some backers to fit the side fairing but it's worth the messing even the guy at the MOT station was trying to work out what year it was at the Suzuki dealers lol well worth the look on his face when he worked it out and said how the hell have you done that :)

For the tail the lower supports need a couple inches removed and the threaded holes welded back in place. I had a shop do it yesterday for $40

Wow. Don't know how I just got to this page. Tried to post on a different page.
